2013 IVY SPORTS SYMPOSIUM Planning Committee Application
The Ivy Sports Symposium is seeking graduate and undergraduate students alike to serve as members of its 2013 Planning Committee. These positions are unpaid and will require approximately 10 hours of work per week running from April 2013 until January 2014.

Position openings are as follows:
Speakers Director The Speakers Director will be responsible for leading the planning committee’s efforts to select, invite and accommodate top quality speakers for the 2013 Ivy Sports Symposium. This individual will first work in conjunction with the Content Director to plan panel and workshop topics, and then collaborate with the planning committee to identify and invite high-‐level speakers to fill these openings. Finally, once the speakers are confirmed, the Speakers Director will be responsible for maintaining speaker communications leading up to the event. This position requires a high attention to detail, strong intrapersonal skills, and preferably a communications background.
Content Director The Content Director will shape the substance of the 2013 Ivy Sports Symposium. In association with the Speakers Director and Attendee Experience Director, the Content Director will focus primarily on designing the panel and workshop discussion topics. He/she should have a solid understanding of relevant current issues in all areas of the sports industry, as well as the critical thinking ability to be able to build the 2013 Ivy Sports Symposium’s content around these issues. The Content Director will also coordinate communications between the moderators and panelists. This position requires in-‐depth knowledge of current issues, a creative mindset, and strong writing skills.
Marketing and Public Relations Director The Marketing and Public Relations Director will be responsible for advertising the 2013 Ivy Sports Symposium and strengthening the event’s brand. He/she will work closely with the Social Media Director to draft and distribute press releases, establish new marketing contacts for the Symposium, and coordinate with the Co-‐Chairs and Executive Director to ensure brand consistency. Moreover, the Marketing and Public Relations Director will manage requests for press credentials and coordinate media relations at the 2013 Ivy Sports Symposium. This position requires strong writing skills and preferably a media background.
Logistics Director The Logistics Director will manage the event logistics for the 2013 Ivy Sports Symposium. He/she will serve as the Planning Committee’s “boots on the ground” during the planning process to ensure the Symposium’s facilities needs are met, communicate with vendors, organize volunteers, and complete various logistical tasks as they arise. This position requires that the Logistics Director be a student at the Symposium’s host school, have a high attention to detail, and preferably possess an event planning background.
Attendee Experience Director The Attendee Experience Director will be responsible for optimizing the day-‐of experience at the 2013 Ivy Sports Symposium. He/she will ensure that both students and professionals leave the Symposium feeling satisfied with their takeaways by consulting on the relevance of content and meaningfulness of networking interactions. Additionally, the Attendee Experience Director will operate the Symposium’s Eventbrite platform and design networking and “Symposium 101” workshops in advance of the Symposium. This position requires strong intrapersonal skills, a creative mindset, and preferably a background in hospitality.
Corporate Relations Director The Corporate Relations Director will work with the Co-‐Chairs and Executive Board of the 2013 Ivy Sports Symposium to implement a career fair on the evening prior to the Symposium. The career fair will feature top-‐tier sports firms with the goal of connecting students and young professionals with employers involved in sports. Additionally, the Corporate Relations director will work with the Co-‐Chairs and Executive Director to coordinate relations with the Symposium’s sponsors. This position requires strong intrapersonal skills, a high attention to detail, and preferably a background in event planning.
