"Electricity is like an effort of some sort of living matter to turn into spirit and mind. It would almost appear as though matter is trying to get an ecstasy, using electricity."
- Ernest Hello.
Playing in interaction with machines... learning to master their language... that is the
challenge of Electric Suites... the sounds of traditional instruments closely intertwined with
those of the electronic music... Folklore, Jazz, Beat music, traditional and ancient music,
Electric Suites was inspired by this diversity in order to develop a new aesthetic,
highlighting the profound aspirations of the creator and of the artist: to provide an artistic
language that would be relevant to its time, while preserving a link to its past and origins.
About the artist:-
Guillaume Blanc, violinist and composer
Born in 1981, Guillaume began playing the violin at age 5. After studying classical violin, he
learns to know and love other musical aesthetics by joining the class of the great violinist
and teacher of jazz improvisation Didier Lockwood. He also attended the class of Octavio
Lopez, renowned contemporary music composer.
Amongst his numerous collaborations, he had the pleasure of working with the
choreographer Céline Pradeu-Kanagasabai on the choreographic pieces CPK-30ans
(CPK-under 30 y.o) and Hybrid, around the theme of a shared identity between France and
India (tour in the “Alliances Françaises” -French Alliances- in India and Sri Lanka in
2012 and 2013).
He also composed the original soundtrack for plays, such as Les parents terribles (Terrible
parents) and Un numéro d’équilibre (A balancing act) for the Minuit44 company (Avignon
Festival, in France, in 2012 and 2013). He was also part of the painter & artist Xavier
Ott’s performance on the theme of nature and the sacred, Le passage de Vénus (The
passage of Venus).
In 2011 he was a finalist in Stéphane Grappelli’s Jazz Violin International
Competition, winning the award for "Scenic Performance".
He holds a national degree (“Diplôme d’Etat”) in violin teaching, and teaches violin and
viola in several conservatories in France.
He is currently working on the development of Electric Suites, a Dj Set combining live
instrumental and electronic music.
"The Jazz violinists are not yet legions and Guillaume Blanc is certainly one of the best.
In its Electric Suites project, he presents original compositions of a high and rare
5
quality. He deserves a great future, so do go see and listen to him!"
- Didier Lockwood

This new screening from the series on video art emphasises the notion of changes
choreographed with different point of views.
In the first video, “Véronique Doisneau “, Jerôme Bel (dancer choreographer and
forerunner of the non-dance movement) is portraying a ballet dancer from the Paris
Opera, who is to retire soon.
Bel gives the dancer a platform to confess about her work, about not being a star but only a
"background" dancer, working and suffering from this harsh discipline. An intimate
portrait and a premiere within the enclosure of the institution, the Opera de Paris.
In the second video "O seculo" by the Brazilian artist Cinthia Marcelle ( winner of the
prestigious Future Generation Art Prize), there are no words, and no storyboard, the
empty street 's changes are orchestrated through a series of colourful and original actions
and movements.
Anne Maniglier is a curator and photographer from France. For many years she worked in
newspapers and news agencies and with the photography agency, Magnum.
In 2007 she settled in India, and started to curate and manage emerging
Indian artists in between India Europe and the US.
