AIT serves as a Politically Neutral Platform in the heart of Asiafor Sustainable Development through Global Collaboration inEducation, Research and Capacity Building Outreach.

AN AUTONOMOUS INSTITUTE HOSTED BY THAILAND

1959His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadejof Thailand signed the Royal Decree establishing the SEATO Graduate 

School of Engineering on the campus of Chulalongkorn University. It was the first graduate school in Southeast Asia 

to offer graduate degrees in engineering.

THE HISTORY

1967The Constituent Assembly of 

Thailand approved legislation for the 

Charter of the Asian Institute of Technology.

THE TRANSITION

1973His Majesty King Bhumibol 

Adulyadej of Thailand graciously presided over the opening of AIT’s present day 

campus.

AIT Tops Country

Twenty‐eight universities participated in the latest Thailand Research Fund (TRF) Rating. AIT tops in 7 disciplines in 10  disciplines it participated. Five of the 7 disciplines received perfect scores of five, the most perfect scores in Thailand.
