a year of service
SHFBAC— OPTIMIZING SERVICE, IMPACTING COMMUNITIES 2
Yours in Delta,
Silvia Tiller-Jackson, Esquire
PRESIDENT Suburban Houston - Fort Bend Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Delta Sigma Sorority, Incorporated is an organization of college -educated women committed to constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the African -American community .
The countdown continues for the “FORTY FOR FORTY” PROJECTS!!!!! BUT……..IT’S THAT TIME. THOUGH!
Sorors we have heard from many committees throughout this service project campaign but not from all. . Some have gathered up items to send as far away as Madagascar Africa and sewn their hearts out to make a pillowcase into a dress, that some little girl will call her own (IAI). We have collected hair care products for the homeless shelter, passed the hat to repair or build a home, we have walked, run and sometimes trotted but whatever the project we have done it with DELTA LOVE! It was that “Ole Delta” Spirit that carried us into a Nursing Home facility where the Past President’s Council spent time giving personal attention and care to our Senior citizen. I believe if we sat quiet enough we could of hear the applause of the Founders when the plans were laid out for “Flint Water Project” (May Week), The “Diaper Drive” (C&T), “Blessing Bags” for the homeless( H&A), the “Style Boutique” (Quack), “Mental Health Across the Ages” (HLS), the “Breaking the Cycle” Youth symposium, walking to eradicate Cancer and March of Dimes projects (P13) and this list goes on and on and on…… Guess what we are not through yet. We have to get in 12 more projects before the clock strikes midnight on April 30th, 2016.
So come on my sisters…….What are you waiting for? IT IS TIME TO P.U.S.H. Persevere until the Supernatural Happens. We got this!!!!!. What have I been saying? No Excuses. It is now time to lean on the shield. Call your Soror neighbor, line sister, sands, and friend and just ask them to join in on one ac-tivity of public service. If you do not want to join in on anything that is currently in launch mode then please plan your own. Please read the past Quacks for the guidelines of the project. Lastly, do not forget to turn in your report form for each and every project. I will submit this year long project for a Regional Award. We need your help my sisters to finish STRONG. We will get there if everyone chooses do something. Love you and continue to serve. I WILL SEE YOU AT THE FINISH LINE!!!!!!

CHAPLAIN’S CORNER
April’s Inspirational Message Greeting to my dearest Sorors, Are you waiting on the Lord for direction, protection, signs, miracles,
finances, healing or another area altogether? Well, sometimes when you are waiting, especially if it’s been a very long time - you may feel like fainting, but don’t faint. Be encouraged. Isaiah 40:31(KJV) states “but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they will walk and not faint.” Remember, it takes faith to wait and using faith pleases God. He-brews 11:6 (NKJV) teaches us that without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a re-warder of those who diligently seek Him. Wow, so exercising faith pleases God AND comes with a reward?!? Here are just a few rewards of pleasing God: Strength – Neh. 8:10 (KJV) the joy of the Lord is my strength. Joy – Eccl. 2:26 (NLV) God gives wisdom, knowledge and joy to those who please Him. Peace –Prov. 16:7 (KJV) When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Thank you Lord for your unending patience and love towards us as we learn to please you in all of our ways. Psalm 145:8 says “The Lord is gracious and merciful; slow to anger and great in loving kindness.” Hallelujah! All glory to God!
