Letter to Candidates
1.
Dear friends, To whom it may concern, This is Dang Ngoc Tan – current President of AIESEC in Na>onal Economics University. Two years ago, in an interview, I was asked “What do you want to do in the next five years?” It was really simple for me at that >me to give a stereotype answer “Study English to gain a scholarship abroad. Work as auditor for an interna>onal company.” Now, aLer two years studying at NEU and par>cipa>ng in many social ac>vi>es, I have to say that I am not really sure of what to do with my life: Do I really want to study abroad? Even when I get a scholarship, what should I study then? Am I suitable to work in financial fields? It is true that a large part of us, young people, do not know what we want to do in the future. "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man" -‐ Heraclitus (Greek philosopher, 544BC). Yes, people change, things do not stay the same, either. Even when you have a clear plan of what to do, do embrace uncertainty because no one knows what the future holds. If you ever find it super hard to figure out the future, let’s focus on what you can do right now to prepare for the best future you can have.
<to be con)nued>
You may want to prac>ce mar>al arts, you may be interested in studying French, or you may have an idea of running some social volunteer projects,… even though they are not much related to what you study at university right now. That’s the perk of being young: feel free to follow your inner voice, be brave to do what you believe in and you will see yourselves develop day by day. The more you experience, the deeper you know yourselves, the wider you explore the world and the clearer you see your future. So what kind of experience do you want to have in your university life? Why not AIESEC? Here we offer a wide range of experience that you can have: You work with people from different countries to expand your outlook of the world nowadays; you acquire prac>cal knowledge and skills related to Finance, Human Resource, Marke>ng, Sales,… that you may need to apply in your future work; you have opportuni>es to discover and develop your leadership poten>al; you feel free to make mistakes and more importantly learn from these. If you are reading this leber, I suppose you are somehow interested in this organiza>on. Please have careful considera>on and APPLY our Team Member Program if you want the experience that AIESEC can offer. Yours, Dang Ngoc Tan
