As we con nue to look toward becoming One Parish in Christ in January, two assemblies have been scheduled in our “Grouping”; one at Saint Benedict the Moor Church on Sunday, September 15th at Noon and another in the Church Hall under Epiphany Church on Wednesday, September 18th at 6:30 PM. The exact same informa on will be presented at both assemblies so there is no need to a end both. You may be wondering what you will hear at these mee ngs. It is important to review how we got to this point in the On Mission process so there will be a brief review of the efforts over the last few years that have led us to where we are today. We will then review what will be happening over the next few months which you have already seen on the “ meline” boards that are displayed in each church. A full discussion of the demographics of our three parishes such as the number of registered members, the number of sacraments that have been celebrated over the last year, where our members live, etc., as well as the finances of each parish will be reviewed. The process of arriving at a recommenda on to Bishop Zubik for our new parish name will be discussed as well as how we plan to con nue to respect the history of all three parishes moving forward. The mee ng will conclude a er me is given for ques ons and answers from those in a endance. To respect everyone’s me, the mee ng will last ninety (90) minutes.
Please con nue to trust in God and pray for the success of the On
Mission process in our parishes!

A business woman walking by the Red Door politely asked a young man who was the first in line wai ng for a lunch, "Do they do this everyday?" Recognizing that he didn't hear her ques on, she asked a li le louder a second me, "Do they do this everyday?" Upon realizing that the ques on was being posed to him, Jus n answered with convic on, "Everyday but Sunday and I don't know what I would do without it." She thanked him for the answer to her ques on as tears filled her eyes. As she walked away, it was obvious her heart had been moved with compassion. The following day, the same woman approached with a gentle smile and asked one of the volunteers how she could make a dona on. It's an amazing gi to be a part of something much bigger than oneself. In the case of the Red Door ministry, to be the hands and feet of Christ ministering to those most in need of nourishment, a sense of hope, and a presence of love on the corner of Stanwix Street and Boulevard of the Allies. Truly we are all in this together, and in this, please accept our deepest gra tude for your loving support, dona ons, encouragement, and prayers. At the end of August, we served lunches to a record number of 240 people in one day. Let us thank God together for His con nual provision and infinite mercy that rests upon each and every one of us everyday... even Sunday. “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgo en that we belong to each other.” – St. Teresa

AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY
I learned a very valuable lesson, and it is that
we should not ever look up at a person or
judge them by the color of their skin, that’s
the lesson I have learned in first grade. In
late 1960, a six year old girl stepped into the
school where she a ended her first grade all
alone, this courageous black child paved the
way for the integra on of schools at the
troubled mes of New Orleans. Ruby Nell
Bridges, now a civil rights ac vist, was the
one among six young African American
children to integrate an all-white school in
the American South.
