Cold Cut Systems1The VisionCOBRA is the alternative way to fight fire. Imagine a scenario where you could fight a fire faster from outside the fire compartment, with less water, less damage to the environment and property, improve the survivability of casualties and significantly reduce the risk to fire fighters Utopia, maybe; bold statements, yes; achievable, yes, absolutely. Martyn Emberson, Chief Fire Officer of Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service
2Societal Changes and Future Fire FightingCasualties in fire fighting demands new methodsDifficulty to recruit retained fire fighters Challenges with congested traffic in urban areasHigher buildings, tunnels, new infrastructure, new building constructions and materials leads to higher and new risksCost saving initiatives leads to smaller appliances with more flexibilityHigher pressure on residual values and focus on water damagesPressure to sustain environment 3Cutting Extinguishing can be one solutionThe Cobra offers an efficient intervention from a safe position the outsideA Cobra attack requires 2-3 fire fighters and can be at the scene before the full BA crew. 1-2 minutes of Cobra intervention will make a dramatic effect and a safer environment for the BA (rescue situation)
The Cobra intervenes without ventilating and entering into the buildingThe Cobra fits perfectly on a Rapid Response appliance 3.5 tons fast, low cost and flexibleThe Cobra uses 100% of 60 l/m instead of 5-10% of 600 l/m No water damage and minimized environmental damages4OWNERSHIPFinancially strong owners Long term dedication

29SAFER FIRE FIGHTINGIndoors fire fighting with breathing apparatus exposes rescue personnel to severe risks
The coldcut cobra cuts through any material and cools the fire gases from a safe position on the outside
30The cutting extinguisher improves firefighter safety since the fire is combated from a safe position outside a construction whereby the risk of injury, due to intense heat radiation and explosion of fire gases, can be avoided. This also reduces the need to enter hot and smoke-filled areas, involving the risks of carcinogenic substances affecting the skin and lungs.
EFFICIENT FIRE FIGHTINGCooling of fire gases can begin at an early stage in a fire. The Cobra can also inert the fire gases
The Commander is provided with better conditions for planning and accomplishing the continued action
31The Cobra can be mounted on small rescue vehicles, such as First Response Units, which arrives faster at the scene. The cutting extinguisher then punctuates any construction in seconds up to a minute and starts controlling the fire immediately. Fire gases are cooled and inerted, flash-over and spreading of fire are avoided and in some cases the fire is put out. All together, this saves valuable time for the commander/ rescue leader to plan continued action.
The Commander is provided with better conditions for planning and accomplishing the continued action
SAVING ENVIRONMENTFire destroys extensive economic values every yearOver 50% of these costs in large fires derive from water damagesThe coldcut cobra uses 30-60 liters of water per minute and most of the mist evaporates
32Fire cause material damages for over 4 billion SEK annually. Over 50% of these costs in large fires are from water damages. Conventional fire extinguishing use large amounts of water (normally 200 liters per minute), which can transport toxic substances and pollute the groundwater. The cutting extinguisher on the other hand uses 30 liters per minute and most of the mist evaporates. In addition, a quick action limits the rampant fire and prevents flash-over, thus saving the construction from complete destruction.
Fire destroys economic values every year for extensive amounts. Damage by water in firefighting represents more than 50% of the costs. Cold Cut Cobra has proved to be an invaluable tool in reducing the extent of damage in a way that no other equipment can cope with, mainly due to the technology meaning mush less water usage.
