2.1 Thermal motor protection
Thermal motor overload protection shall be provided by one of the following means:
• NEC compliant installation of a motor temperature sensor, see also section "Motortemperature protection (TF/TH)" in the chapter "Electrical Installation" of the opera-ting instructions.
• Using internal thermal motor overload protection according to NEC (National Electri-cal Code, US). Thermal motor overload protection can be activated via parameterP4-17.
• Implementing external measures to ensure thermal motor overload protectionaccording to NEC (National Electrical Code).
2.1.1 Parameter
The following additional parameter was added to MOVITRAC® LTP-B/LTX inverters toimplement internal thermal motor protection according to NEC:
• P4-17 Thermal motor protection according to NEC
• 0 / disabled
• 1 / enabled
2.1.2 Functional principle
The motor current is accumulated in an internal memory over the course of time. Theinverter goes to fault state as soon as the thermal limit is exceeded (I.t-trP).
Once the output current of the inverter is less than the set rated motor current, the inter-nal memory is decremented depending on the output current.
• When P4-17 is disabled, thermal memory retention is reset upon shutdown or powerloss.
• When P4-17 is enabled, thermal memory retention is maintained upon shutdown orpower loss.
INFORMATIONOnly the fuses mentioned in chapter "UL compliant installation" of the operating ins-tructions shall be used for UL compliant installation.

3.1 Thermal motor protection
MOVITRAC® LTP-A is not provided with internal thermal motor overload protectionaccording to NEC (National Electrical Code, US).
Thermal motor overload protection shall be provided by the following means:
• NEC compliant installation of a motor temperature sensor, see also chapter "Motortemperature protection (TF/TH)" in the operating instructions.
• Implementing external measures to ensure thermal motor overload protectionaccording to NEC (National Electrical Code).
INFORMATIONOnly the fuses mentioned in chapter "UL compliant installation" of the operatinginstructions shall be used for UL compliant installation.

4.1 Thermal motor protection
Thermal motor overload protection shall be provided by one of the following means:
• NEC compliant installation of a motor temperature sensor, see also section "Motortemperature protection (TF/TH)" in the chapter "Electrical Installation" of the opera-ting instructions.
• Using internal thermal motor overload protection according to NEC (National Electri-cal Code, US). Thermal motor overload protection can be activated via parameterP41.
Note: This function is available with firmware 1.1 and later.
• Implementing external measures to ensure thermal motor overload protectionaccording to NEC (National Electrical Code).
4.1.1 Parameter
The following additional parameter was added to MOVITRAC® LTE-B inverters toimplement internal thermal motor protection according to NEC:
• P41 Thermal motor protection according to NEC
• 0 / disabled
• 1 / enabled
