The Angola Media Library Network was created in 2010 under the
Patronage of the President Jose Eduardo dos Santos to facilitate “the access to information and knowledgenecessary for the social development of Angola contributing to thetraining and improvement of its human capital through the use of ICT”
Angola’s Media Library Network (ReMA), represents an evolution of
traditional libraries, embodying ICT and current digital culture. It
aims to endow the country with infrastructures, through the use of ICT and
different resources and instruments for sharing knowledge and
existing learning,placing the knowledge produced at the disposal of
the population.
Media Libraries are modern public spaces that operate as knowledge
repositories. and are built to democratize access to information
and knowledge, increasing access, use and ownership of the InformationSociety as well as directly providing a wide scale of information /
education services and support to the Angolan people.
Description
1. Full participation of the Angolan society in
the information and knowledge society
Democratize access to information and knowledge, increasing access, use and ownership of the Information Society among the
Angolan population, from: the expansion of digital citizenship, business and civil society skills; the pillarization, from local
government policies relating to the Information Society; gathering, preserving and disseminating culture and knowledge, with special
emphasis on indigenous knowledge; and promote the meeting, exchange and co-creation of knowledge.
ReMA encompasses three main objectives

2. Strengthen the education system of Angola
Increasing the opportunities of access to educational content and processes and training; strengthening the processes of teaching and learning; supporting the educational system in its teaching through
resources based on ICT.
3. Contribute to the economic and social
development of Angola
Supporting the development and improvement of entrepreneurship.improving the employability and competitiveness of human capital in
Angola, fostering social innovation initiatives.
ReMA encompasses three main objectives
Under the project scope, it is envisaged the implementation of 25 Media Libraries and 18 mobile Media Libraries all over the country
by 2017, in 3 phases of construction
Phase 1: 6 Media Libraries and 6 mobile Media Units; Completed.
Phase 2: 6 Media Libraries; Completed throughout 2016.
Phase 3: 13 Media Libraries and 12 mobile Media Units. At end of 2017.
Number of visitors since opening in 2012 = 1.020.895
Hardware, 1.200 apparatus, PCs,laptops,ipads, e- book readers, playstations, tv ect.
Bibliographic collection, 52.000 publications and 503.000 digital contents.
Events 5. 203 since 2012 with 138.630 participants.
