Current percentage of active Drupal users who actually contribute to Core is hovering

around 0.1%. Target: a full 1% in 2014

Majority of enhancements, ideas, fixes don’t get back to the community

Create ways to have almost all developers contributing somehow

Why is this happening?

Developers and contributing back

Developers expect support from the organization

What prevents developers from contributing

Where to start

Shy: my code exposed to the rest of the world

Language is a bit of a challenge

Open Source/Volunteer mindset/habit

Customize your company’s

The inspiration came from the community itself

Lessons Learned and Impressions

Just regular “people” are on the other side

Enthusiasts (Sergeants) are key to the game (cause believers)

It’s not as hard as it sounds…but you have to start!

Kick it off (but also keep the ball rolling)

Core!

Open it up to anyone(public location, universities, etc)

You see, “contributing", as you know, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push!
