Oligozoospermia is a part of Ksheenashukraroga means that oligozoospermia indicatesquantitative vitiation of Shukra dhatu inKsheenashukra patient.

Oligozoospermia refers to semen with sperm counts less than 15million/ml (According to WHO 2010) and is commonly finding in maleinfertility.

Shukra kshaya is a variety of shukradusti eventually leading to infertilityand the same in biomedicine is referred to Oligozoospermia.

Churna Ratnam is specially indicated in Shukraj Vyadhis in Ayurvedicclassics(Rasendra chintamani 8/19)

In this study the patient is dominant vata-Pitta prakriti and Acharyasushruta and Vaghbhatta have mentioned Kshinashukra is due tovitiation of vata and Pitta Dosha.(Su.Sha.2/3; A.H. Sha 2/10)

Acharya charaka also described that the destruction of sperm is thecause of impotency.(cha.chi.30/154)

In Oligozoospermia patient there are chances for improving semenanalysis by perticular internal medication like Churna Ratnam.

Dalhana comments on Sushrutam Sutram 1/7; as

Upachaya is the primary line of treatment in

Ksheenashukra, Vriddhhi, Unnati etc. Are the meaning

of the word Upachaya , So while treating

Ksheenashukra , physician should select the

combination of drugs which boosts the Shukra Dhatu.

To evaluate the efficacy of Churna Ratnam on semenanalysis.

To assess the references have been given in classics.

In conventional science, there has no satisfactory

treatment for Oligozoospermia.

A 45 years old male patient accompanied by his wifecame to the OPD of Kayachikitsa and complainedabout not conceive the child since last 14 years.

Although his active marriage life since 15 years.

So he was conselled and after doing semen analysisreport the treatment started for 60 days.

Treatment plan:

Drug : churna ratnam Dosage form : churna Dose : 2 gm, Twice A Day Mode of Administration : Oral (Empty stomach) Time of Administration : Morning and Evening Anupana : Warm Milk Duration : 60 days

Before treatment sperm counts 15 million/ml were noted than aftertreatment increased 40 million/ml.

Before treatment abnormal forms in semen analysis were found 12% andafter treatment it was found 6%.

After treatment

sperm motility-60% ,actively progressive motile-65%,sluggishly progressive motile-10%non motile-25% were noted.

The patient in this present study has a dominancyof vata and pitta dosha.

The formulation given in the study named churnaratnam contains many ingrediants with vajikara,ojovardhaka and vata-pitta samak properties

Aatmagupta beeja are Vrsya due to its madhurta,snigdhta,ushnaviryata.(Dhanvantari nighantu,Guduchyadi varga,page no-55,slokno-153)

Vidari is madhur,shita virya,guru,snigdha and pacifies vata,pittaand rakta doshas.it is balya and vrsya.(Dhanvantarinighantu,Guduchyadi varga,page no-54,slok no-149)

Gokshura promotes the bulk of the body.It isvrsya,rasayan,pacifier of the three doshas,increase the digestivecapacity.(Dhanvantari nighantu,Guduchyadi varga,page no-38,slok no-106)

Bala is madhur,shitavirya and snigdha.It pacifies all the three doshas.promotes balya,ojas and it vrsya.(Dhanvantari nighantu,Guduchyadi varga,page no-110,slok no-283)

Atibala also works like Bala.

Abhraka Bhasma is tridosh shamak,balya ,increase the digestive,and vrsya.(Rasa-Ratna samuchhaya adhyay 2/2,3 page no-39

All ingridients of Churna Ratnam Having Madhura Rasa andvrishya properties which have potency to increase sperm count.

Thus after giving this drug, it diminish the increase vata-pittadosha.

we might have got better result in patient of ksheena shukra withseme formulation.
