Business Analytics | Information Systems and Technology Management
Business Professional❏ Business Analytics, Information Systems and Technology Management (IT) are typically departments within
small to large companies across varying industries. As well, you will find some companies whose only product offerings are either IT solutions, business or data analytics. Based on this, you should follow the guide based on the industry of the company you are applying for the position.
Example 1: An IT position at a Financial Services firm will follow the Accounting | Consulting | Finance guide
Example 2: A data analytics position at an advertising agency would follow the Marketing guide
TIP:❏ Do your research prior to the interview!
❏ Network with alumni or other professionals that work at that particular company. ❏ Speak to recruiters at information sessions or the career fair and pose the question about
appropriate dress attire for interviews (Example: Based on my research I have seen varying information from full business suits to business suits with a shirt but that a tie is not required).
❏ Let the recruiter or hiring manager know what you are planning on wearing and ask if this is appropriate for the interview.

ACCESSORIES
Men’s Shoes & Accessories
Size: 36mm – 46mmRim: Silver or Gold
Face: Black, Blue or WhiteBand: Leather or Silver
NO Diamonds!!!
Men’s Watches
Width:❏ Larger watches can really get in the way of not only casually glancing at your watch, but can also lead to a
visibly big “bump” on your wrist when your shirt cuff is exposed
Size:❏ Stick to a 36mm to 46mm
Face:❏ Black, Blue, White❏ Simple design❏ Rule of thumb, if the face extends to beyond the width of your wrist, it is too big for you
Band: ❏ A leather strap is preferred as it works well through the entire range of professional wear (business to
casual) but silver watches are also acceptable
NO: Colored, animal print or patterned tights/hosiery
XWomen’s Shoes & Hosiery
Women’s Jewelry
Earrings:❏ Small to medium size studs. Pearls are always classic.❏ Small hoops (NO large hoop earrings)❏ You can wear earrings that dangle (small) as long as they do not draw attention away from you
Necklaces:❏ Small, thin necklace, small pendant necklace or thin chain.❏ Pearl necklace❏ NO super large necklace with brightly colored stones (too distracting - you want all eyes on you!)
Bracelet:❏ Single bracelet. Silver, Gold, Pearls.
Rings:❏ If you wear a ring, you should only wear one ring and it should be a simple ring (nothing oversized)
Watch: ❏ A professional watch appropriate in size to fit your wrist (leave your oversized face watches at home)❏ Rim: Silver or Gold❏ Face: Silver, White, Gold❏ Band: Leather, Silver, Gold
Women’s Jewelry
NO: jewelry that will draws the interviewer’s attention away from you
Bags (Men)
Bags (Women)
Many women like totes of some sort. Totes allow you to carry all of your personal effects as well as shoes, laptop, extra clothing (for the gym), etc.❏ A structured tote that will stand up when you set it on the floor is
preferable to one that flops over (and potentially spills its contents)❏ Tote color should coordinate with your overall attire; it does not have
to match your shoes, but should not clash in style and color❏ Avoid purses that look like beach/pool totes or have bold prints❏ No logo-covered handbag
