Mr. Gary Soo Mr. Peter Cheng
Dear Partners and Friends, In these years, the demands and expectations for understanding of the legal system are escalating from various sectors and over a wide spectrum of topics. This reinforced our belief that “Legal training always is the crucial difference”, which we have been working to promulgate since the launch of the Hong Kong Legal Training Institute (HKLTI) in 2012. In the year of 2016, HKLTI has expanded its works with universities, professional institutions, government departments, NGOs and the business sectors to provide stimulating experience in legal training, and keeps delivering training through conferences, seminars, workshops and other training events to an even wider audience of non-legal professionals, executives, managers, officials and academics. The HKLTI further focused on delivering more on in-house training, tailor-made to meet the increasing demands for the legal knowledge and skills, with a view to facilitating the direct application. We are very pleased to see that quite a number of HKLTI events, including the specially organized masterclasses series --- “Hong Kong Arbitration Masterclass Series --- The Full Picture under Arbitration Ordinance (Cap. 609)” and the Showcase Event on “Construction Contract Essentials 2016 Arbitrator’s Perspectives on Construction Disputes --- The Unique Picture”, have both been successfully held. We are highly encouraged by the feedbacks received, which are very positive and constructive. For these, we wish to tender our sincere thanks to all involved in making these happened. Participants and partners may also be delighted to know that part of HKLTI’s income has gone to donations to charities as usual. On behalf of HKLTI, we would like to thank the HKLTI Secretariat for their devoted contributions and efforts and are highly grateful to all our working partners. We are confident that, with all your support, we may further extend the benefits of our legal training to all interested in 2017 and beyond.

CO-FOUNDERS’ MESSAGE
3
The Hong Kong Legal Training Institute (HKLTI) believes “Legal training always is the
crucial difference”.
To this end, HKLTI is dedicated to providing all with stimulating experience in legal
training and continuing professional development with a view to equipping participants
with the essential knowledge and skills for effective and practical applications.
HKLTI works with universities, professional institutions, corporations and authorities to
further legal knowledge that is of practical use. Recent examples include the Annual
Showcase Event on "Construction Contract Essentials 2016 – Arbitrators’ Perspectives on
Construction Disputed --- The Unique Picture" in 2016, co-organised with the Centre for
Innovation in Construction & Infrastructure Development of the University of Hong
Kong (CICID, HKU) and the various legal training for non-lawyers, such as the Property
Law Master Class for landlords and investors, co-organised with the ET Business College.
Training events and CPD seminars by HKLTI have been with the support from
professional and trade organizations, such as the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, the
Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, the Royals Institute of British Architects, the Hong
Kong Institute of Construction Managers, the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, the
Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors Limited, the Hong Kong
Construction Association, the Hong Kong Green Building Council, the Hong Kong
Institute of Planners, the Hong Kong Institute International Arbitration Centre, Hong
Kong Mediation Centre and other supporting organisations.
With legal knowledge and its use becoming essential to individuals and corporations for
their sustainable successes, HKLTI offers training for a wide range of topic-specific legal
update, as well for continuing professional development. Also, HKLTI has conducted
these or other tailor-designed training at users' premises as in-house events for entities in
Hong Kong, Mainland or overseas.
Trainers include qualified legal practitioners who are seasoned and highly-ranked in
delivering legal training to great satisfaction for participants from various professional
sectors, universities, corporations and government authorities.
The Co-Founders of HKLTI are Mr. Gary Soo and Mr. Peter Cheng.
