How to Estimate Roofs Using Pitch Gauge App (Version 2.2)

Pitch Gauge is used to find the slope and size of roofs.

NOTE: For various reasons, not all versions of Pitch Gauge (or platforms) include every feature.

To get started, open Pitch Gauge on your device.

1. Lay device on side (on a level surface). 2. Press (and hold) “Calibrate,” until count down is complete to ensure accurate measurements.

To calculate roof area (squares), begin by pressing the calculator.

1. Start by measuring the Length of the first section by hand (be sure to include overhangs). 2. Input the data.

1. Measure the Width of the same section. 2. Enter the data.

Press the picture of the protractor to open up both options for finding pitch.

Choose a method for finding pitch.

Press the check mark (to automatically add), or manually enter the Pitch of the section.

View the samples to determine the Cut Level (complexity) of the section of roof you are measuring (this helps to account for waste).

Choose Cut Level: 1 – 5 1 = Very Simple

5 = Very Complex

Press Calculate to find this section’s total number of squares.

If your roof is broken down into more than one section, press the “+” and continue once again, beginning with slide 8.

A tab is created at the top for each section added. View totals, individual sections, and delete when necessary.

Once you finish entering data for all of the sections, press the “Totals” tab to find your total number of squares.

EXTRAS *To clear all saved sections from memory press “Totals,” then

“Delete all Sections.”
