il PALIO unrolledThis is a horizontal handscroll meant to be held in hands and read like a book instead of humg on a wall for viewing. this handscroll unrolls the medieval event of il Palio, a three day race that is run bareback in about 90 seconds and is the backbone for the people of Siena, Italy. Painted on rice paper in a traditional Chinese style, the original unrolls to about 100 FT.
