ToolsA tape measure, thin bladed trowel, scissors
or knife, and possibly wooden wedges are
required for installation.
Application
• Calculate the width of the joint and select
the tape size using the above table as
a guide.
• Trim and remove the over-compressed
start or end piece.
• Allow at least an extra 1 cm/m when
cutting the tape into lengths.
• For vertical joints, begin installation at the
bottom. The ends of the tape should be
tightly butt jointed.
• The sides of the joints should run parallel
(max. deviation 3 degrees). Most of the
building detritus and mortar residue must
be removed from the sides of the joints.
• The tape must be located 2 mm back
from the front edge of the joint to prevent
over-expansion.
• Wet joints can neutralise the selfadhesive
which is used as an installation aid.
In such a case, illmod 600 can be held in
place with wedges until it has expanded.
• If the product is in contact with paints,
coatings, sealing materials and natural
stone, please enquire about compatibility.
Installation Tips for Windows
• illmod 600 must not be applied around
the corner of the window frame (Fig. 1).
• The tapes must be spliced flush with
a tight butt joint (Fig. 2).
Installation Tips for Cross-jointsEnsure that the surface of the cross joint
between the vertical and horizontal sealing
tape is flush using a tight butt joint.
Installation Tips for MassiveStructures
• Spacers or shims must be used when
installing finished parts to prevent exces-
sive compression of the illmod tape.
• For highly absorbent materials, it is
recommended to apply a waterrepellent
finish to the sides of the joint before
installing illmod 600.
• The self-adhesive surface must be inser-
ted face downwards if the tape is installed
horizontally.
NoteWeigh down the remaining rolls in the opened
boxes to prevent the rolls from rising at the
sides (telescoping). The tape must not come
into contact with solvents or aggressive
chemicals.
