Answers

I will pass out a notecard and a blank family tree template to each student.

-This notecard will contain one of the 9 family members we just discussed. Once you are assigned as a family member, you will write your name in the correct spot on your family tree.

-Example: If my notecard says Father, I would write my name where the Father goes on the family tree.

Activity

Once you have your notecard and family tree, you will move around the room introducing yourself as your assigned family member to your classmates.

You will introduce yourself by describing that relation as best as you can (in English).

Example: If my notecard said Grandmother, I would say, “Hello, I am your father’s mother.

You would then say “You are my grandmother.” And then write your real name on the family tree in the grandmother spot.

Activity Continued

You will continue to do this until you have completed your family tree with the name/signatures of all 9 family members.

Once your family tree is complete, go back to your seat and wait for everyone to finish.

Family Tree Continued

This is what your copy of the family tree will look like.

To make sure you fully understand these 9 terms and how they are related to each other, you will be given another blank copy of a family tree.

This time, you will take this copy home and fill it out using your own family members.

This will be due tomorrow.
