Warm-up IOC organizationThe IOC organization is made

up of all the IOC committees, an executive board, a secretary department, and a special committee.

Members:The IOC members, natural persons, are

representatives of the IOC in their respective countries, and not their

country's delegate within the IOC. As stated in the Olympic Charter:

"Members of the IOC represent and promote the interests of the IOC and of

the Olympic Movement in their countries and in the organisations of the Olympic Movement in which they serve" (Olympic Charter 2004, page

28). There are currently 112# members of whom 17 are women, 23 honorary

members of whom 3 are women and 1 honour member. Juan Antonio

Samaranch is Honorary President.

The IOC flag• The IOC flag has five interlaced rings,

of which the respective colours from the pole end are blue, yellow, black, green and red, on the white background. The yellow and green rings are lower than other three. The yellow ring links the blue and the black ones; the green ring links the black and the red ones. The Olympic symbol represents the union of the five continents and the meeting of the athletes from all over the world at the Olympic Games. Coubertin, who designed this emblem in 1913, explained its symbolic meaning: “these five rings represent the five part of the world now won over to olympism and ready to accept its fertile rivalries.

Olympic Chapter ( some)

• To encourage and support the promotion of ethics in sport as well as education of youth through sport and to dedicate its efforts to ensuring that, in sport, the spirit of fair play prevails and violence is banned;

• To encourage and support the organisation, development and coordination of sport and sports competitions;

• To ensure the regular celebration of the Olympic Games;

• SA is responsible for a broad portfolio, including the development and implementation of the IOC's commercial and marketing strategies.

• This includes the negotiation of Olympic broadcast rights and TOP sponsor contracts, the management and servicing of the TOP Programme and Olympic brand management.
