Verbs

Step one

First of all, you just remember verbs!

Those are basic verbs we often use in everyday life.

Please try to remember the kanjis as well.

Verb Groups

There are three ‘groups’ of verbs in Japanese: -u Verbs, Ru-Verbs, and Irregular Verbs.

Verbs in Japanese conjugate, or take various shapes, following the rules each verb group has.

So… It is important to know which group the verb belongs to!

Verb Groups

U-Verbs The dictionary form of an U-Verb like iku can be broken down into the verb base (ik+u=iku, for example).

Ru-Verbs are so called because you add the suffix ru to the verb base (tabe+ru=taberu, for example)

Irregular-Verbs There are two irregular verbs in Japanese. Suru and Kuru. The vowels in the irregular verbs’ bases are different in the dictionary forms and long forms.
