UniversityPh.D. in English literature as a

Commonwealth Scholar.Fought in the war for independence in 1971,

during his undergraduate study at Dhaka University.

Has been a faculty of the English Department of Dhaka University since 1975 and is currently a Professor.

Has judged several amateur writing competition.

Has been the regional Chairperson for Eurasia for the Commonwealth Writers Prize, 1996 and 1997.

Published books of prose: ‘Quartet’, ‘The Wonders of Vilayet’, ‘Urukkoo: The Woman Who Flew’.

Several published poetry books, among which ‘Published in the Streets of Dhaka: Collected Poems’ and ‘Padma Meghna Jamuna: Modern Poetry from Bangladesh’ are the latest.

Is the only poet belonging to the 2nd generation of poets writing in English In Bangladesh.
