All pe rsonne l m ust be fully brie fe d be fore bac k burning ope rations be gin. Bac kburning in are as of Low – M od e rate OFH will re q uire the use of wind, or low hum id ity to m axim ise e ffe c tive ne ss. Bac kburning should be tim e d for late afte rnoon and e arly e ve ning.

W he re practic able to assist m op-up e fforts, c le ar a 1m rad ius around d e ad and fibrous barke d tre e s ad jac e nt to c ontainm e nt line s prior to bac kburning, or we t d own the se tre e s during the ignition.
