Port Access - Road

• ABIL Study mapped potential freight impacts of port expansion

• Presentation of Logistics Business Case to property agents, LAs and developers

• Working with all of these to bring forward sites for market readiness

• Developing funding streams – Growing Places Fund, Chrysalis, RGF Gap Funding Bid

• Developing the demand evidence base• Promotion to end users

Business Growth Grant

• £10 million RGF approved to provide expansion grants to businesses

• Minimum grant £50k and maximum £1m• Fund will be fully operational in summer 2013• Open to businesses creating and safeguarding

jobs from:– St Helens– Sefton– Wirral– Knowsley– Halton– Liverpool * (subject to further BIS approval)

Business Growth GrantFund Information• Grant Fund – Up to 25% assistance for SMEs• Fund capital equipment costs for businesses with expansion

plans that will create (or safeguard) jobs• Programme needs £5 of additional investment for £1 of grant

Accessing the Fund• Fund is administered by the LEP with LA Partners• Expressions of Interest now invited to enable businesses to give

an early indication of their projects & intentions to apply• Full applications will be invited in Summer 2013• Businesses should work with the LEP and Local Authority

partners to understand scheme criteria and the eligibility of their project

Chrysalis

• £30 million fund operating across Liverpool City Region, excluding Halton

• Provision of repayable finance for property schemes – new or refurbished commercial floorspace (B1, B2, B8 uses)

• Objective to deliver economic benefits and job creation opportunities

• Fund can support up to a maximum of 50% of eligible costs

• Approved state aid notification – therefore a range of flexibilities can be deployed to facilitate development

Accessing the Fund• The LEP provides an advisory role to the Chrysalis fund• Chrysalis is currently open for new applications• The Fund is administered by the Igloo Consortium• Further details and an online application system can be
