In this presentation we are going to learn about:
- Reforms that were done under Los Reyes
Católicos reign- Intolerance of society at that time
REFORMS
1. The kingdom of Spain became more and more
powerful.
2. A strong and modern army was built to fight for the
country. The army was made of soldiers.
3. There was a great interest in exploration because Spain wanted to become richer.
4. Spain established alliances with other european countries, such as France or
England.
INTOLERANCE
A period of intolerance started due to:
a. Los Reyes Católicos created the Spanish Inquisition who punished all people who did
not follow the rules of Catholic Church.

inquisitors
b. Los Reyes Católicos ordered the Jews and Muslims to convert to Catholic
religion.
Muslims who converted to Catholic religion were
called Moriscos.
Jews who converted to Catholic religion were called New Christians.
c. Jews were forced to leave Spain in 1492.
d. Then, Moriscos and New Christians were forced to leave
Spain too.
