3. In the (second half of YOUR) first semester you have to work on your research proposal
4. Group meetings
5. Workshop on how to provide and deal with (critical) feedback
6. Individual meetings are possible depending on the topic(s)
7. Defend you proposal – go/no go
8. Receive comments on your proposal

• Clear IRP topics and guidelines
• Deadlines
• Collaborate in groups (for proposal phase) on similar type of problems – prepare for career later
• Clear coaching by faculty members
22
Individual Research Project (4)
Disadvantages
• Deadlines
• Combination with internship is possible, but then you will have to find one before you start your topic (second half of first semester) + combine it with teaching load
• In principle, you will have to follow two parts in conjunction - it is therefore not possible to write a proposal – wait for a semester – and then conduct your research in ‘3rd semester’ (supervision availability)
