• Who They Are• What They Do• How to Apply

Who They Are

• ND 4-H leadership organization made up of youth ages 16-22

• Purpose – Enhance and promote ND 4-H program– Foster awareness of 4-H opportunities for youth

throughout the state – Help with 4-H events throughout the state– Assist in planning statewide events such as

Extension Youth Conference (EYC)

What They Do• Retreats

– Four a year held throughout the state

• Help at State Fair • Help plan and facilitate EYC • Help at any other county or state 4-H event they

are asked to

– Oxbow Golf Tournament

– Help at county livestock shows

– Announce awards

– Help at project days – Be the extra hand at any

county or state event

Requirements

• Be 16 at the time of application • Complete a total of 5 requirements a year

– A requirement is helping at any ND 4-H event – 2 must be from attending retreats and/or EYC

• Outgoing when 22 at EYC

How to Apply• Selections in November

• Elections at EYC in June

• Must be 16 at application time

Things to Know about the Application• Application due

– Selections (November 21st)

• Oct 5th to County office • Oct 15th to State 4-H office

– Elections (EYC in June) • May 5th to County office • May 15th to State 4-H office

• Must have 3 references – One from Extension staff

• Extension agent must sign application

Selections

• Candidates are judged on:– Application– Problem solving – Impromptu speaking – Formal interview – Team building

Elections - EYC

• Candidates are judged on:– Application– Formal interview – Problem solving – Impromptu speech (in front of

delegates) – Formal speech – Whistle stops

• EYC Delegates vote
