George Boole (2 November1815 – 8 December 1864) was an Englishmathematician, educator, philosopherand logician. He worked in the fieldsof differential equations and algebraic logic,and is best known as the author of The Lawsof Thought (1854) which contains Booleanalgebra. Boolean logic is credited withlaying the foundations for the information age.
