The Vaseline Incident, one of the first high-profile ‘manipulation’ acts of the cricket ball by a bowler

During the Chennai Test in 1976-77, the English physio put Vaseline-impregnated gauze into the eyebrows of the bowlers . This would channel the sweat down the side of the eye, as opposed to allowing it to go into the eyes. John Lever had a habit of taking sweat and in the process he mixed the Vaseline-impregnated gauze with some of the sweat on his brow. He found himself with a slippery hand and hence decided to get rid of the gauze. He took it off his eyes and put it down at the base of the stumps in front of the umpire. This was picked up by the umpire, who recognised that it was a foreign substance which is not allowed as per cricketing laws.

1 On the 29th of Nov 2009, The Independent carried

a story with the headline - ______, Woods, Federer: The curse of Gillette. This was a nod in the direction of the infamous curse associated with the brand wherein sports stars related to the brand got into trouble. 4 “From a tactical point of view I think we can see

that number 6, Franky Vercauteren, is looking to track back and support his full back. From his position he’s trying to steer __________ down the line and prevent him from coming aside and hurting them. It is also possible to justify the position of the the follicly supreme number 10 Ludo Coeck, who is cutting off a route inside for _________. After that it is quite clear that tactics, formation and indeed common sense have gone out the window, they’ve all been replaced with the blind fear that only the great players can inspire in an opposition team”

What is being described here?

putt ever made (ball was in motion for 9.232 miles) is held by Jose Maria Olazabal and was made on the eve of the first day of 1999 Ryder Cup.

And the Answer is...

The Europe team took The Concorde from London to Boston and featured a makeshift putting green. 6 “This was in the first innings of the final Test at the

Brabourne Stadium in 1973. I had spent most of the day fielding at silly point. As you know, Vishy, like his brother-in-law Sunny, is very short, and even bent in half I would find myself staring right into their eyes! Apart from being a really good player, Vishy is also a very nice man. When he reached his hundred, my actions were totally spontaneous. I < blanked out > . The Brabourne Stadium absolutely erupted - they loved it. It was this sort of involvement that they looked for, since cricket had long been perceived as too prim and proper. Wherever I go in India I am reminded of what happened on that day in Bombay. It is an extra-special memory I have of a special cricketer and a wonderful ground in a great city”.

Who is speaking? What did he do?

And the Answer is...
