Students Reflections I have a better understanding of the skills needed inhandling a pictorial discussion after going through theself-directed learning. I am also more aware of how I can prepare for my exams now. Having compared my
first recording and last recording, I realized that I have progressed significantly. I now realize that practice indeed makes perfect, therefore, I feel that self-directed learning is indeed useful in helping me
prepare for my oral exams .

Students Reflections This activity has been of great help to me. It has honed my skills in oral and built up my self-esteem. This activity made learning more interesting by ingeniously integrating IT into our learning process. Although the process was not exactly easy but much has been accomplished as wehave put our hearts into it. .

In comparison with the first recording, it is evident that I have made great progress in my performance for the last 2 recordings. I sounded more confident. I realize that most of the pictures are sourced from newspapers, therefore, it is important for us to read newspaper frequently .

Students Reflections I feel that this activity is not really beneficial to me. It serves more as a refresher course for me. I still
prefer the original way of teaching and I feel that thisis a waste of time. I feel that it would be more
beneficial if these few hours are taken over by ateacher .

Teachers Takeaways Teachers must be active in pushing for online learning. This willencourage self-directed learning and solve the issue of timeconstraint in teaching simultaneously.
Such self-directed learning packages are not new to us, but asthe world evolves, we must also fine-tune and upgrade our package to suit our students needs. Therefore, using ICT neednot mean creativity; it can also be a process of reinforcement.
Issues that were previously not pre-empted surfaced during theprocess of PLC. For example, good performance is expected asthe group of students belongs to HA category. Nevertheless, itis only during the recordings that we realized students wereunable to perform under stress due to high self-expectations.Therefore it is important to help students build up on their self-esteem.

Moving forwardThe quality of recordings can be improved on bygetting alumni or teachers to help in recording.
The sound quality of recordings can be improved by
reminding students not to hold the mics too close tothemselves.
The number of pictorial discussions allocated can be
reduced to 2 pictures and 1 self-test.
Instructions in aiding students to capture the focus of the picture can be pre-recorded and a demonstrative
recording can be provided
