Recommendations– AsalistRiskAssessmentWhiletheriskratingofthetreeishigh,itisasignificantassettotheproperty,andworthperformingahigherlevel3riskassessment,whichwouldincludethefollowing:

• Excavatetherootcollartogradetoexamineitscondition,includingthevoidunderthegall.

• Haveaclimbingexamperformedtoprobethecavityinthemainattachmentinordertodeterminetheextentofdecayatthebaseofthelimboverthegarage.

• Discussthefindingswiththeclienttodeterminewhatlevelofrisktheyarecomfortablewith,andwhatadditionalmitigations,ifany,couldreducethelevelofrisktomoderate,insteadofhigh.

Thesemitigationscouldincludepruningthetreetoremovedeadlimbsandreduceweightontheendsofthebranchesbyremoving2”to4”diameterlimbsItheouter10’.Dependingontheresultsoftheclimbingexam,cablingmayberecommendedtoreducethechancesoflimbfailureinhighwinds.Mitigationmayalsoincludetreeremoval.
