favor contactar Steve Obarski sobarski@stclarenj.org or 856-236-6918 (voice or text).

We find ourselves now in the season of new resolutions. Often the impulse to make improvements in who we are and
what we do (aka New Year’s Resolutions) are made in isolation from the great mystery of Christmas that we celebrate.
Yet look at the stories of Christmas and consider the work that went into the first Christmas.
We have from these stories something of a blueprint for continuing the spirit of Christmas, the work of Christmas, the
keeping Christ central both in Christmas and in our lives
and in the lives of those around us.
We have many ministries here at Saint Clare of Assisi
parish that take some of the work of Christmas and spread
it through the entire year. Please consider an offering of
your time and talent so that others may be served in the
name of Jesus Christ whose presence among us we
celebrate always.
So many of the stories of Christmas in scripture involve
Angels motivating others to reach out to visit the Holy
Family, and to offer them support. Our Ministry of
Consolation , also known as Bereavement Ministry,
reaches out to families at the time of a death, to assist the
families with the preparation for funeral liturgies, offering
the opportunity for some follow up during the first year
after a death, including the annual November Mass of
Remembrance.
Formational training is offered by the parish, and by the diocesan Family Life Office. Our current bereavement
ministers can serve capably as mentors for those who wish to serve. Some of our bereavement ministers serve
individually; others as teams. Given the number of funerals celebrated annually in the parish, we would like to increase
our number of ministers , so that each minister or ministry team would normally only meet with one family per month.
Gina Stebbins coordinates our funerals and bereavement ministers. Gina would be delighted to answer questions and
provide more information about this ministry. She may be reached at the parish office, or gstebbins@stclarenj.org.
Another ministry of presence and outreach is performed by those who bring Holy Communion to parishioners and
others who are unable to be present at church for Mass. Ideally, parishioners who are homebound should have the
opportunity to receive Communion weekly, as they did when they were able to come to church. The training for this
ministry it can take place here at Saint Clare. It takes a little over an hour. We are in need of both Extraordinary
Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick & Homebound as well as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to
assist at Mass. The minimum age for this ministry is 14. For more information about this ministry, or to arrange for
training, please contact Steve Obarski sobarski@stclarenj.org or 856-236-6918 (voice or text).

Small Group Faith Sharing will provide an opportunity for parishioners to get to know one another in a unique, comfortable, and casual setting. This small groups help participants deepen their faith and integrate more fully into their everyday lives including work and relationships. The groups are kept small in number to facilitate relationship building. As secularism gains influence and religion is seen as dull and backward, the small group experience helps illuminate the beauty, intelligence and relevancy of our Catholic faith and tradition. To be truly Christ’s Church in the world is the vocation of every believer. The small faith community, as a vital part of the greater parish community, provides knowledge, encouragement and enthu-siasm to Catholics to live out this call.

Stewardship Gratitude
“Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and
myrrh.”
Matthew 2:11
The image of the Magi kneeling before the infant Jesus and opening their treasure chests for Him is an image of Stewardship that we should all try to follow each day. In gratitude for all that we have been given, we are called to generously share all of our gifts, not just the ones we pick and choose. God wants us to be generous with everything, but especially that one thing that means the most to you.
