Why implement a safe Drive
Program? Everyday your drivers advertise your company by the way they drive. They are
operating dangerous machinery (a motor vehicle) and doing so unsupervised.
Just by being on the road, they put themselves, the company vehicle and other
road users at risk. Your company vehicle fleet and drivers are expensive and
valuable assets worthy of effective risk management.
These assets are at risk. The Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) and the National
Safety Council (NSC) recognise that road crashes are the most common cause of work related deaths;
injuries and absence from work. The average company car will crash once every 5 years and the average
cost of each road crash is estimated at AUD$18,500 (of which panel repair costs are only a small part of
the total expenditure). The risks are even higher in developing countries.
Suddenly the safety of your fleet is worth considering. The true value of safe driving will only become
apparent when the real costs of bad driving are fully understood. A driver’s licence alone does not make
your drivers safe, afterall the road network and vehicle technology is constantly changing but there is no
updating or retesting of drivers. You cannot expect people to drive safely unless they have been shown
how and given reasons why.
Train them don’t blame them. In conjunction with Safe Drive Training, your organization can introduce a
SAFE DRIVING PROGRAM that provides cost effective risk management and meets your OHS obligations.
Benefits of a Safe Driving Program ! INCREASED STAFF SAFETY
IMPROVED FLEET ECONOMY AND CARBON EMMISSIONS - Improvements to vehicle running costs (fuel, lubricants, tyre wear reduction)

camera mounted to the windscreen which permanently films a drivers actions and what is happening in front of the vehicle. There is internal g-force meters (accelerometers) which monitor the vehicle for significant g-force events caused by excessive braking, acceleration or cornering force. If a high g-force event occurs, the camera keeps the vision before and after that point. There is also a trigger button for the instructor to activate to capture vision of driving situations which can be reviewed and analysed at a later date.
This program
is
designed to educate drivers on the best way to improve fuel economy and drive green. As a by-product safety will be increased through economical and conservative driving. Being an independent organization we can deliver unbiased tips based on extensive literature review and technical knowledge of our instructors.

FATAL VISION BEER GOGGLES
AS USED BY SDT IN OUR COURSES
These goggles impair the wearer like they are alcohol impaired. There
are 12 different goggles in the range.
DISTRACTED DRIVING POSTERS
These 12 different posters can be used on company noticeboards to
remind drivers of the dangers of distracted driving (eating, makeup,
texting, mobile calls, reaching for an item, looking at a map etc.)
IMPROVE SAFETY AWARENESS
DRIVING SIMULATORS
Traditionally simulators have cost over $100,000 but now
corporations in the Asia-Pacific can purchase low-cost simulators
designed, programmed and manufactured by Tecknotrove Simulators
in the emerging IT hub of India.
Depending on the model and specifications, Tecknotrove Simulators
cost AUD$10,000 - AUD$30,000 (plus delivery and on-site training).
TYRE PRESSURE MONITORS
Vehicle fleets can now improve their risk management by fitment of
a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). They monitor the tyre
and alert the driver when the pressure changes to unsafe levels. This
is achieved through a set of sensors which are installed in each tyre,
that send constant pressure and temperature readings to a display
unit installed on the dashboard.
DISPOSABLE ALCOHOL TESTERS
REDLINE is a unique, self-testing, disposable, simple, inexpensive and
laboratory calibrated alcohol breath tester, which detects the
presence of alcohol in the body and gives an accurate indication of
whether the blood alcohol content has exceeded a specific limit.
AVAILABLE IN 0.05 BAC FOR THE GLOVEBOX
MOBILE PHONE CONTROL
Key2SafeDriving is an easy to install, cost effective tool that will
reduce or eliminate mobile phone usage while driving.
Key2SafeDriving reroutes calls to voice mail and sends automated
text message responses indicating the driver will respond when they
have safely reached their destination. SEE NEXT PAGE

Recent Feedback:
“I would just like to say thanks to both yourself and Jamie for all your efforts this last week in bringing all the Instructors along in not only their
driving skills and knowledge but also their presentational and instructional skills. This will benefit them all individually as well as the Training
department and the Company as a whole. Thanks once again”
Frank Sullivan, National Training Development Manager, G4S Security Solutions (PNG) Ltd.
“Regarding the training that you provided to us back in 2008, since the course there have been no accidents as a result from reversing. I can
honestly say there has been a marked improvement in accidents altogether. Thanks so much for your help.” Kym Nunan-Squier, Human
Resource Manager, Maroochy RSL Club
“It has been a pleasure to conduct business with you. Everyone has given great feedback and been very appreciative of the opportunity.” Ray
Windridge, Health Safety and Environment Manager, Queensland Sugar Limited
“Everyone was thrilled with the training. Not only was it highly educational and also a lot of fun.” Aimee Munro
Recruitment Specialist, Tarong Energy Corporation
“The training went just great. Got some very positive feedback. One thing which has come up repeatedly is how Patient and Friendly your
training staff were to everyone. They were able to take those who were very nervous about the driving exercises and put them at ease and
back into control of their fear. Well done instructors. As the organiser from the Griffith side I must say how much I personally appreciated the
professionalism and the assistance of the SDT management. Please pass on my thanks to them all.” Colin England, Planning & Management
Coordinator, Griffith University
“I have only heard good words about both the 4WD and Defensive Driving course. All went well. I was impressed with your facility, thanks
again.” Malcolm Robinson, NSW Office of Water
“The (4WD High Range) training went down really well with everyone. It was certainly a valuable exercise that gave people an appreciation of
vehicle behaviour when under non-standard driving conditions. We will be looking to hold a further session when we have our site team
established. Thank you and I look forward to being in touch again shortly.” Robbie Watt, Senior Safety & Risk Advisor, Origin Energy
(Adelaide)
“The driver training program shows that we are experiencing a sustained and significant reduction in the rate of light vehicle accidents. This is
a very encouraging result! This program is clearly making our workplace safer. I am sure that it has made us safer drivers away from work as
well, with benefits for families of drivers and the community in general”. Matthew Orr, SE Manager, PT. Inco, Sulawesi – Indonesia

“This is just a quick response - I'm out at the Surat Basin in the oil and gasfields all week and internet access is limited and difficult. I had
intended to send a thank you and follow-up on the course. From our point of view it was a great success and met our expectations. Feedback
from everyone who attended has also been very positive. And the course, as facilitated by Denis was well done. He was very informative and
instructive.” Trevor Love, AUSSAFE
“I just thought that I would let you know that I have received nothing but positive feedback about Friday's safe drive training course.
Participants thought that each part of the course was informative, fun and worthwhile and that the instructors were fantastic.” Melanie,
Heart Foundation, Brisbane - Australia
“Regarding the driver training in Bangladesh for our company, just letting you know that the course proved to be quite beneficial and we were
particularly impressed with the SDT trainer’s realistic attitude and willingness to tailor the program to suit the prevalent conditions. He proved
to be the ideal person to conduct the course, ensuring maximum benefit was gained by all drivers. If we require further defensive driver
training on future projects, we will be sure to contact your organization again. Thanks.” Dave Stegemann, PT. Grant Geophysical, Jakarta -
Indonesia
“Thanks for your training, even the training course was short (2 days), it helped us to have the knowledge about how to drive safety & the
attitude when driving also. Your practical lesson was unique for Vietnam, but it was very interesting & useful for us.” ANH, Dao Thi Hong, Air
Liquide (Vietnam)
“The training was great thanks. I think everyone came away with something from it and we all enjoyed it thoroughly.
Safe/defensive driving aspect was probably more important than the 4WD off-road aspect. But, to be honest the defensive driving part of the
course was more beneficial for us in regards to safety whilst carting around stock etc compared with the minimal 4WDing we do on property
anyway. Thanks very much.” Abby Graham, VHR Armidale
“The feedback has been very positive! Thank you very much for the day I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves”
Jessica Collison, Energex, Brisbane – Australia
“I am writing to thank SDT for such a fantastic experience in my recent Defensive Driving course in Canberra. The instructors were
professional, helpful and fun, and I have taken a lot from the course that I have already started to apply to my every day driving.” Joseph
McKay, Australia Navy, Canberra - Australia
“The participants thoroughly enjoyed the training day. Made lots of jokes about everyone’s driving ability and found it very beneficial for
improving their driving skills. Many thanks.” Susan Hunter, BHP Billiton, Brisbane – Australia
“You will be pleased to hear the defensive driving day has had a real impact on the choices and decisions around how we operate and
maintain our vehicle fleet. I thought I was a reasonably safe driver before the course however I feel I am much more effective now. Again,
many thanks! Jamie Toth, Sentis
