七里山塘姑蘇第一名街

ShanTang Street is located at Northwest of Suzhou Ancient City, and totally 3.6 km (7 Chinese miles), thus also named with “7 miles ShanTang”. In A.D. 835, Bai Juyi ( 白居易 ), a famous poet of Tang Dynasty had the bank (ShanTong Street) constructed when he is the local governor of Suzhou, thus the bank is also named after him as Baigong Bank. 山塘街位於蘇州古城西北，全長 3.6 公里 (7 里 ) ，因此稱「七里山塘」。在西元 835 ，著名唐代詩人白居易，他是蘇州當地刺史，在河塘旁造堤( 山塘街 ) ，此堤也以他的名字命名為白公堤。Qing Dynasty, Suzhou became the economic center of South-East China, and the ShanTang nearby the Jinghang Yunhe River became a most prosperous commercial place, with a title of “ First Street of China”.清代，蘇州成為中國東南經濟中心，山塘靠近京杭運河，成為最繁榮的商業場所，稱號為「中國第一街」。
