Membangun pengetahuan tentang penciptaan ruang yang efektif dengan memahami fenomena dan psikologi kota, budaya kota dan anthropologi serta pengertian landasan konservasi kota.
Kemampuan memecahkan permasalahan di bidang perancangan kota melalui kegiatan penelitian dan pengembangan analisis secara kritis untuk implementasi kreatif dan pemecahan-pemecahan yang relevan untuk masalah terkini.

Mengembangkan pengetahuan di bidang Perancangan Kota melalui penelitian mandiri yang disusun dalam bentuk tesis di bawah bimbingan dosen pembimbing; memberikan pemahaman kepada mahasiswa tentang perbedaan yang jelas antara karya ilmiah bidang perancangan kota dengan praktek terapan profesi perancangan kota. To develop knowledge of Urban Design by means of independent
research of master thesis under supervision of supervisors; provides
student understanding of the clear differences between scientific works
and applied professional practice in urban design.

Kemampuan mengembangkan dan menetapkan permasalahan/ hipotesa penelitian; melakukan kajian pustaka dan menetapkan landasan/ kerangka teoritik penelitian; melakukan review dan menetapkan metoda penelitian secara kritis dan komprehensif.
Kemampuan melakukan penelitian mandiri dan menunjukkan ketajaman analisis, menggali topik terpilih yang relevan dengan arsitektur kota, serta mampu mengkomunikasikannya sebagai karya ilmiah.
Kemampuan menyusun komponen-komponen tesis ke dalam bahasa tulis yang memenuhi kaidah penulisan tesis dan bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar, serta kemampuan menyusun publikasi hasil penelitian dalam bentuk karya ilmiah.
Ability to develop and formulate research problems/ postulate hypothesis; to conduct literature review to formulate theoretical framework; to conduct critical and comprehensive methodological review and formulate research methodology.
Ability to conduct independent research and show a sharp analytical thinking, inquiry the selected topic related to urban architecture, and communicates it as a scientific work.
Ability to organise thesis components into academic writing in a proper Indonesian standard, and produce academic articles based on research findings.
