RANOS
Set of software for handling operation and maintenance tasks for the WCDMA
RAN
Gives information such as alarms, configuration and basic performance.
Provides several interfaces for easy integration with the existing management
environment
TEMS
Gives support for planning, test and performance monitoring of the radio and
transport network
Resulting configuration data can be downloaded to the nodes via RANOS
Ericsson’s WCDMA network components
Description
RBS
Controls the actual radio resources and maintains the radio link
Is connected the user equipment (UE) via the Uu interface (radio interface), to the
RNC via the Iub interface
RNC
Controls a number of RBS’s. Controls mobility functions like Power control,
Handovers, Switching, etc.
Is connected to the core network via the Iu interface. RNC’s are interconnected via
the Iur interface
