Chorlton High Transition Work

The Big Question ?We will be continuing with the Big Question this year, linking all the subjects around one topic. Our first Big Question is ‘How did evacuation affect the lives of children from Chorlton Park

during WW2?’

Throughout the year we will be having ‘Themed Days’ where the children have the opportunity

to reflect on what they have learnt.

Parents will be invited to come along and join in with the days activities so watch out for

information.

•Reading – every night.

•Maths and Literacy/ topic:

Maths – given out every week on a Tuesday to be handed in on a Friday. Literacy/Topic - given out at the beginning of term with set dates for completion in the pack although extra pieces may be given.

In Year 6 we take home learning very seriously, using it as a tool to further the children’s knowledge and understanding.

Therefore we expect books to be read regularly, tables to be learnt and home learning to be handed in on time every

week.

We encourage the children to complete independent research at home and look

forward to receiving this via email or reading it on the blog!

As in Year 5, at the end of each week, your child will complete a Learning Log in their home learning books, writing down some of the things that they have learnt about during the week. They will be told some of the things that they will be learning about the following week and these will also be written on their learning log.

We will ask the children to get a parent/ carer to sign their learning log each weekend so we know that they are sharing them with you.

We hope this allows you to feel more involved in your child’s learning and that you find it a useful tool to spark discussions with your child about what they are learning about in school.

Uniform

We are proud of how our children look.
