XXXIX. Panzerkorps (XXXIX Panzer Corps) 53
The XXXIX. Panzerkorps was formed in Wehrkreis IX in January 19 0. In Mayit took part in the campaign against Holland and Belgium. After the fall ofRotterdam and the capitulation of the Dutch Army, the Corps moved to Aachen andfrom there it took part in the campaign against France. The Corps remained inFrance until May 19 -1, when it was transferred to Allenstein in East Prussia.In June 19 -1 , it participated in the campaign against Russia in the northernsector and took part in the battle for Leningrad. The Corps was transferred tothe central sector on July lU, 19 2, where it fought in the battle of Kholm andin the withdrawal to Smolensk in late 19 3 and early 19 . In July 19 , itsuffered heavy losses in the encirclement east of Minsk.
