You  Lived  In

CHINA?!?

Q.  How  was  the  food?  Were  you  the  tallest  person  there?  A.  Oh  gosh…..the  same  quesAons  again.

Here  comes  the  next  one….

Q.  So  what  did  you  do  there?  Teach  English?!

A.  Teaching  English  was  one  part  of  my  experience.  I  gained  crucial  business  development  skills  and  discovered

that…

Working  with  kids  is  one  of  my  passions!

Wow  that  looks  fun.  I  wish  that  I  had  done  that  when  I  was  younger  and

had  more  Ame.  I  highly  recommend  it.  It  was  a  great  experience  and  If  your  interested  in

having  a  similar  experience  contact  me.  But  that’s  not  all…

Q.  Well  what  else?

A.  The  best  part  is  that  I  gained  invaluable  business  experience  such

as…

DEVELOPING  A  REAL  SCHOOL

•  Improved  student  enrollment  600%  over  previous  year  by  increasing  school  enrollment  from  7  to  42  over  one  year  period.

•  Led  successful  financial  turnaround  saving  costs  on  overhead  expenses,  teaching  materials,  employee  turnover,  teacher  training,  and  student  recruitment.

•  Drove  profits  over  100%  by  leading  turnaround  of  underperforming  teaching  staff

Q.  Wow  that  sounds  impressive.  Do  you  have  anything  to  verify  all  of

this?  A.  Naturally  my  boss  was  very  happy.  Check  out  what  she  said  about  me…

“With  his  help  Happy  English  has  undergone  a  complete  transformaAon  from  a  fledgling  business  running  from  an  apartment  to  a  full-‐service  English  training  school.”

-‐  Linda  Jiang,  Principal      “Ma^hew  took  on  responsibiliAes  that  extended  far  beyond  his  iniAal  role.  These  responsibiliAes  included  curriculum  development,  employee  recruitment,  staff  training,  management,  markeAng,  and  finance.”

-‐  Linda  Jiang,  Principal      “Ma^hew  was  an  excellent  colleague  with  fresh  ideas”

 -‐  Stanley  Chow,  Teacher

Q.  So  what  have  you  done  with  your  Ame  since  you  returned?

A.  Great  quesAon!  I  have  been  BUSY!    With  my  mandarin  language  skills  and  passion  for  kids,  The  North  Broward  Preparatory  School

decided  that  I  was  the  perfect  fit  for  a…

ResidenAal  Life  Housemaster!

Q.  And  how  about  your  mandarin  language  skills?  Has  it  been  tough  keeping  them  since  you  lea  China?

A.  It  has  certainly  been  a  challenge,  however  I  am  proud  to  say  that…….

I  recently  passed  the  HSK  level  3  exam  for  Mandarin  Chinese

With  my  score  I  was  even  offered  a  full  one-‐year  scholarship  to  conAnue  studying  in

China.

Q.  So  what's  next?  A.  I  plan  on  finding  a  residenAal  life  administraAve  posiAon  that  can  take  advantage  of  my  experience,  mandarin  skills,  and  bachelors  degree  from  UF  in  Business  AdministraAon.    And  there  is

one  more  thing…..

I’m  heading  back  to  China  this  summer  for  2  months  of  travel!

If  you  want  to  hear  me  blab  about  China,  ask  me  about  my  experiences,  travels,  or  you  want  to  discuss  career  opportuniAes  contact  me  directly:
