Blessed Marie Rivier in Tokyo This picture was painted by Sister Jacqueline Hardy who was the first missionary from St. Hyacinthe to Mozambique, and then to Ecuador. When our missionary Sister Rachel Pinsonnault once returned to Canada in 1989, she asked Sister Jacqueline to paint it for Japan. It is a water-color portrait unique of this kind.

We fondly keep it in our community room, and pray to our Foundress asking her protection over our young Vietnamese candidates in formation.

A visit to the Sisters of Pradelles

Do you know the name of the community in Pradelles that Marinette asked to enter and was not accepted? It is the Order of the Company of Mary Our Lady founded by Sainte Jeanne de Lestonnac in 1607. I learned recently that the sisters of this Order live in Tokyo since 1959. They have a residence of students called “House of Lestonnac. I went to meet the superior there and told her about our Blessed Marie Rivier. We mutually felt familiarity, and praised God for His wonderful providence. They too are eagerly working for the vocation ministry in Vietnam.
