Taiwan's non-life insurance market had continued to experience fierce pricing competition since 2010, and the situation had only gotten worse in 2011. Even in face of such difficult market conditions, TMNewa believes in its core values: Brand-new, Efficiency, Safety and Top (B.E.S.T.) and continued to strengthen its competitive advantages such as in professional insurance, staff training, and customer service. TMNewa kept on creating new values for its customers to win their trust and satisfaction.

在全體員工努力下,國際著名信用評等機構美國標準普爾公司於2011年將新安東京海上產險信評等級由「A-」之優良等級晉升為「A」;同時,中華信用評等公司亦將財務實力評等與發行體信用評等由「twAA」調升為「twAA+」,評等展望「穩定」,也展現出新安東京海上絕對是值得消費大眾信賴的產險公司。

Thanks to the hard-working employees, the well-known American S&P Ratings upgraded TMNewa from a level “A-” to level “A”. Meanwhile, Taiwan Ratings also raised its Financial Strength Rating and Counterparty Credit Rating to “twAA+”from “twAA”, and rated its long-term forecast as“stable”. These ratings have once again demonstrated TMNewa's creditability as a non-life insurance company.

2011年是全球經濟急遽變化的一年,前二季因2010年延續的經濟復甦讓全球各國信心大增,但當時實施的經濟政策也造

成歐美主要國家財政赤字攀升、政府債務快速膨脹,並導致第三、四季爆發了美債信評風暴以及歐洲五國(葡萄牙、愛爾蘭、

義大利、希臘、西班牙)的歐債危機,甚而影響全球金融市場動盪不安,且在短短幾個月時間內,情勢發展已危及全球實體經

濟;台灣是出口導向的經濟體,受上述各項不利的外在因素波及,2011年全年經濟成長率只達4.0%。

The year 2011 was one in which we experienced drastic and rapid changes. In the first two quarters, the global

economy was still recovering, instilling economic confidence around the world. However, the policies implemented

caused an increase in government deficits and debt in many American and European nations, leading to the US credit

catastrophe and the Euro-zone debt crisis (notably in Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain) which in turn led to

the turmoil of the global financial market. In the short period of a few months, the situation affected the international

economic structure. Due to the detrimental consequences, Taiwan, as a country mainly reliant on export-led growth,

only achieved a 4% growth rate in 2011.

2011年也是天災頻傳的一年,澳洲洪水氾濫、紐西蘭地震、日本311大地震與海嘯、泰國洪災肆虐、美國多起暴風雨等,

使2011年成為全球保險業界因自然災害損失最慘重的一年。依據日本損害保險學會公佈的資料顯示,日本311大地震保險理

賠金已超過149億元美金,從以上的數據不難看出,全球產險業在2011年經營地相當艱辛。反觀台灣整體產險市場則因車市

大好、天災險費率調整等因素,全年簽單保費收入達新台幣1,124.1億元,不僅重回金融海嘯前的水準,更較2010年成長了

6.9%。

2011 was also a year of natural catastrophes, which included the floods in Australia and Thailand, the earthquakes

in New Zealand and Japan and the hurricanes in the USA. The year 2011 was also the year in which the global insurance

industry suffered the most due to natural disasters. According to the General Insurance Association of Japan, the 3/11

earthquake created a loss of USD14.9 billion, evidently showing that 2011 was a harsh year for the international non-life

insurance sector. On the contrary, the total premium income had grown in Taiwan due to the automobile market and

the adjustment of the NAT CAT premium rate, reaching NTD112.4 billion with a 6.9% growth rate in comparison to 2010.

本公司2011年簽單保費收入為新台幣82.6億元,較2010年成長6.9%,與整體市場的平均成長率相同;業績成長加上穩

健適當的經營策略,公司營運與獲利均能達到預訂的目標。正因如此,國際著名信用評等機構美國標準普爾公司於2011年

將本公司的信評等級由「A-」之優良等級晉升為「A」,同時,中華信用評等公司亦將財務實力評等與發行體信用評等由

「twAA」調升為「twAA+」,評等展望為「穩定」;為該年度唯一信評調升的產險公司。

At TMNewa, the total premium income in 2011 was NTD8.26 billion, with a growth of 6.9% from 2010, consistent with

the overall market growth. Due to this growth and the sound strategies implemented, the company was able to achieve

the targets set in both volume and profit. Thus the well-known American S&P Ratings upgraded TMNewa from a level

“A-”to level “A”. Meanwhile, Taiwan Ratings also raised its financial strength rating and counterparty credit rating to

“twAA+”from “twAA” and rated its long-term forecast as “stable”. In 2011, TMNewa was the only non-life insurance

company to be upgraded.

2011年台灣產險市場雖因汽車銷售量的增加而有所成長,但價格競爭卻也愈見激烈,面對此一市場環境,本公司堅持

穩健經營的理念,並積極落實「B.E.S.T.」核心價值,持續發揮競爭優勢,才能在客戶心中創造無可取代的價值。人才培訓方

面,創造良好學習環境,鼓勵員工充實自身的專業知識與技能;風險管理方面,深度思考報酬與風險承擔間之最適當平衡關

係,並真正執行於日常作業中;客戶服務方面,貫徹標準作業流程,以追求更深度的服務;創新商品方面,開發『錯誤或疏

漏責任保險』 等具市場區隔性新商品,滿足不同消費族群之需求;社會責任方面,除持續致力關懷偏遠地區弱勢學童外,亦

Although the automobile market raised the non-life insurance market growth in Taiwan, price competition also

became more intense. In light of the hostile market environment, TMNewa maintains the operations of firm business

strategies, and follows the core values, B.E.S.T., to maximize our competitive advantage and to create an irreplaceable

value in the hearts of our customers. In terms of employee training, we strive to create a positive workplace environment,

and encourage employees to pursue further studies in their professional fields. For risk management, we aim to find the

most practical balance point between profit and risk that we can put to use in our business operations. In regards to

customer service, we follow our SOP and seek to provide even better service. Furthermore, for product innovation, we

hope to satisfy consumers in every market sector with diversified new products such as our “Errors and Omissions Liability

Insurance” plan. To fulfill our social responsibility, we also continue with our efforts to help children in remote areas and

we are currently promoting eco-friendly activities to reduce carbon emission.

The global market will be even more unpredictable

in 2012, in face of severe pricing competition. Besides

推動「重大體傷案件保戶法律諮詢」新服務,針對發生重大體傷事故之汽車保險客戶,主動連絡為其解答分析車

禍民刑事責任、訴訟程序等法律與賠償相關問題。

Offered “Legal advice for serious-injured customers”which is a new service for motor insurance customers

suffering from serious accidents. We attentively analyze the civil/criminal liabilities, litigation processes, as well

as legal and compensation problems.

推出「錯誤或疏漏責任保險」商品,對於被保險人因執行營業行為發生錯誤或疏漏,使其所生產之商品無法提供

應有之功能或用途或依契約(協議)應提供之服務,導致其客戶受到財務損害時,本商品負賠償之責。

Our new product,“Errors and Omissions Liability Insurance”insures business owners for their losses when

wrongful act occurs and interrupts their regular production.

發動員工愛心募款活動,募款金額全數捐贈予佛教慈濟慈善事業基金會,同時公司亦另行提撥款項捐贈予紅十字

會,以做為日本311大地震賑災之用。

Initiated the charity donation for the Tzu Chi Foundation to support the relief effort for the 311 earthquake in

Japan. In the meantime, a separate funding was donated to the Red Cross Society of ROC by the Company.

推出「道路救援費用補償保險」商品,提供消費大眾多元化的汽車保險商品選擇。

Offered“Compensation for the roadside rescue service expenses insurance”to provide our customers

with a more diversified motor insurance product.

人員的教育訓練制度,不僅針對理賠、營業人員的需求建構

完整、專業的教育訓練課程,同時更鼓勵所有內外勤同仁們

積極學習以取得產險專業,如精算、核保、理賠、消防設備

師等相關證照,充實自身的專業知識與技能,並善加運用於

日常工作中,為客戶提供更精緻、優質的服務。除了為員工

創造學習成長的職場環境外,新安東京海上更積極設定各面

Employee training has always been a vital element

in business strategies. TMNewa believes that long

term training for employees is fundamental in bringing

greater production in today's unstable market. Therefore,

TMNewa has put great effort in staff training, focusing not

only on the claim and sales personnel, but also on each

and every employee in all departments. Employees are

encouraged to obtain their professional licenses such as

in actuary, underwriting, fire protection engineer and the

like. Thus, our employees are adept in their professional

aims to encourage innovation, efficiency, team-work and

In order to increase each employee's performance

and thus, the competitive advantage of the company,

TMNewa has introduced a series of major career training

for managers with professional instructors giving lessons

relating to problem analyzing and solving, as well as

their ability of decision-making. Furthermore, internal

instructors are trained to teach every employee the

ability of problem analyzing and solving. Then, led by their

supervisors, employees utilize what they have learned to

make the best decisions in a systematic way of thinking,

and thus, the purpose of employee training can be

realized and operational goals of the company can be

achieved.

TMNewa understands that another important issue for

running an insurance company is “Risk Management”,

not only for customers, but also for internal risks relating to

finance, investment, underwriting and other unexpected

2005年成立「風險管理部」,專責發展、建構公司各項

風險管理機制的流程規劃與系統建置,並與公司日常營運活

動整合,同時彙整日常業務監控結果,定期於董事會上報告

情勢,新安東京海上著手規劃『風險調整後績效評估(RAPM)

制度』,並自2011年起正式於日常作業中實施執行,藉由此

制度導引商品部門更深入思考報酬與風險承擔間之最適當平

衡關係,務使公司在未來經濟景氣愈發不確定的環境中,整

體營運仍能相對維持穩健的成長。

E s t a b l i s h e d i n 2 0 0 5 , t h e R i s k M a n a g e m e n t

Department is in charge of developing risk-related

procedures and systems, integrating risk management

into daily businesses, as well as periodically monitoring

and reporting the changes and effects of each risk

profile in board meetings. With its strict risk control scheme

and independent supervisory function, TMNewa has

effectively kept the risks under control in several global

financial crises. In reaction to an increasing trend of

global economic crises, TMNewa had outlined the RAPM

system and officially implemented it in 2011. Therefore,

the Product Departments of the company could start to

evaluate the balancing point between revenue and risk

so that a stable growth can be maintained even when

facing an economic downturn.

此外,於發展自身風險管理機制的同時,新安東京海上

亦在東京海上集團(Tokio Marine Group)的技術支援下,以

內部模型進行風險量化作業,近年來已陸續完成所有主要風

險項目如市場、信用、準備金、核保等風險之模擬與整合。

2011年起進一步將內部模型技術運用於中期營業計劃之制

定,以更具系統性的統計方式配合風險量化模型,逐步達成

企業風險管理中對於策略性風險管理的要求。

I n add i t ion to deve lop ing an in te rna l r i s k -

management mechanism, TMNewa has also been

working on the quantification of internal risk model with

the technical support from Tokio Marine Group. Risk

models for categories such as market, credit, reserves and

underwriting have been completed successively in recent

years and applied to the mid-term business plans. With a

more systematic statistical method and risk quantification

model, strategic risk management requirements of ERM

can be achieved progressively.

堅持服務信念 創造全新價值Insist on service spirit, Create brand new value在商品同質性愈高的市場中,企業可提供愈多的附加

服務,就愈顯現出其對消費者的價值,新安東京海上深刻地

體認到此要點,在近年來保費競爭愈趨白熱化的產險市場環

境裡,依然信守對客戶的承諾—持續提供獨特及差異化的服

務,如『24小時事故現場協助處理』、『24小時道路救援』

兩項服務,至2011年底累積服務件數已分別突破10萬件與15萬

件。正因這份堅持,新安東京海上不僅贏得客戶的信賴、肯定

與支持,也為自己在客戶心中創造出無可取代的新價值。

The higher similarity of the product, the more

complimentary services can be offered, and thus, the

more differentiated values to the consumers. TMNewa

believes in this point and keeps its promise to the

customers in the recent chaotic price-cutting competition

of the non-life insurance market. “24-hour accident

scene handling service” and “24-hour roadside rescue

service” had already reached an accumulated case

number of 100 and 150 thousand respectively by the end

of 2011. TMNewa's persistence not only was rewarded by

the customers' trust and support but also created a value

that cannot be replaced in customers' hearts.

但新安東京海上不以現狀自滿,陸續推出符合客戶需求

的優質服務項目,如『24小時服務不中斷諮詢連線網』服

務,由資深理賠主管線上24小時值班之機制,讓客戶即使深

夜在事故現場有任何疑問,一通電話馬上可獲得回應,徹底

執行〝Always Stand By 服務隨時在〞的服務精神。又如『現

場事故處理—小額損失現場和解授權』服務,理賠人員於事

故現場衡量肇責、受損等情況後,經判斷總損失在新台幣2萬

元內且當事人皆同意的情況下,可當場協商促成和解。此項

專業效率的服務措施,不僅節省了保戶及對方的寶貴時間,

更讓保戶無需面對日後被求償的壓力;2011年在『24小時

事故現場協助處理』服務所有件數中,『現場事故處理—小

額損失現場和解授權』服務成功件數比例達21.45%。至於重

大的理賠案件處理作業至賠付階段時,新安東京海上立即以

e-mail或簡訊方式通知營業人員及保戶相關資訊;未來更將

擴及至賠案受理、理算、賠付等關鍵階段,適時讓保戶掌握

賠案處理進度。

However, TMNewa was still not satisfied with its

achievements and continued to offer quality services.

For example, senior claims supervisors are in charge of

the “24-hour non-stop consulting net”, who take shifts

day and night so that services can be provided even

at midnight. This service realizes our“Always Stand

By”spirit.“Small Amount of Loss Settled at Accident

Scene”is another service that, after examining losses and

allocating responsibilities, claiming staff can help to reach

reconciliation right at accident scenes if the loss is under

NTD20,000 and with the agreement from both sides. This

efficient service can save time for both the policyholder

and the other party; moreover, customers will not be

facing any claiming pressure afterwards. In 2011, of all 24-

hour accident scene service cases, 21.45% had reached

reconciliation at the accident scene. For cases with

greater loss, TMNewa informs its customers the relative

information by e-mails or text messages during the case

processing phase. In the future, key information such as

case acceptance, responsibility calculation, and claim

payment will be provided to customers to keep them

updated about their cases.

除理賠人員之專業外,客服中心亦是服務客戶的重要環

節之一。新安東京海上透過CTI客服作業電腦電話整合系統、

0800MEMO專業派案系統等機制,將派案、通報、回報、賠

案後續追蹤之流程,做合理、細緻、嚴謹的分配與控管,以

達成快速抵達事故現場、有效處理賠案作業之任務。現今,

廣度的〝服務〞已無法滿足消費者,唯有深度細膩才是服務

王道。每季舉辦理賠暨主管會議,就理賠相關服務事項之執

行成效進行討論,並與客戶服務滿意度調查結果共同作為服

務流程改善之參考依據,以期持續提供客戶專業、深度、貼

心的服務。

Other than professional claiming staff, Customer

Service Center also plays an important role. TMNewa

integrated the calling system and the professional

0800MEMO system through CTI to carefu l ly and

reasonably divide customer service into 4 procedures:

case distributing, informing, replying and after-claim

tracing. Thus, missions of rapidly arriving at accident

scenes and efficiently handling claim cases can be

accomplished. Nowadays, excellent service is not up

to its quantity but quality. Claiming related services and

execution results are discussed in the claim managers’

meetings held quarterly, in the meantime, results of

customer service satisfactory surveys are the reference for

process improvement. TMNewa is expected to provide

professional, delicate and caring service for its customers.

活用通路策略 創新多元商品Flexible sales channels, Innovative andvaried products服務需要差異化,創新研發商品也不例外,新安東京

海上產險面對消費者與企業體客戶多元化的需求更是投入

大量人力與資源研發具市場區隔性之新商品。其中,專為高

科技、製造業等企業體客戶研發之『錯誤或疏漏責任保險』

actual towing mileage is usually more than the free

allowance of 20km. Moreover, it also covers road services

that need special handling such as cars stuck in mud or

broken cars due to indoor parking lot with ceilings under

2.5m. This new insurance product is popular and offers

consumers a variety of choices.

Diversified sales channel has always been important

to TMNewa's sales strategy. With a long-term effort,

business has grown in several channels including direct

business, acquisition business, brokers and agents,

financial institutions and on-line platforms. As the

channel pattern extends, TMNewa can flexibly adjust its

strategies and provide resources needed when business

expands. For example, BIS system allows every channel

to communicate with each other and be updated with

business quality and market trend. Meanwhile, custom-

made products and service are designed for different

channels; for instance, the cooperation with E-sun bank

offers insurance especially for teachers. Rate calculating

software is built for Group Personal Accident Insurance

and Travel Accident Insurance. In reaction to the large

volume of motor insurance business, “Rate Quoting

System” has combined e-FAX and e-mail and is served

by senior employees. The system has greatly increased

quoting efficiency and quality, satisfied sales channels

and offered its service in more than 1,600 banks by the

end of 2011.

Internet platform is an important part of service

digitalization. Apart from professional customer service staff

providing consulting service, operating procedures are

constantly being improved considering the convenience of

on-line insuring. Service is also offered in accordance with

customers' consumption habits; such as on-line progress

check and policy sending notice via text message.

Moreover, previous data are stored for on-line renewal

to save the time of paperwork and to reduce the whole

renewing process from 10 minutes to less than 5 minutes. In

addition, insurance renewal reminders via E-mails and text

messages are used effectively to keep customers insured,

which is a big advantage for customers in today's busy,

technologically advanced world.

Considering the importance of education of human

resources in international competition in the future,

children's education in rural area becomes the focus

in the CSR program. Other than making donations in

education funding, TMNewa is also working with the

locals and offering after-school program for children to

enhance their studies in Hua-lian and Nan-tou counties.

This project is planned to be extended to other remote

areas in the future.

Green activities started in 2008 to save energy

and reduce carbon emission, “electronic vision and

sign-off system” was constructed for the Motor Claim

Department to save papers, and claiming-related

processes are done electronically to decrease the paper

consumption. The next goal is the electronic insurance

policy, and customers will be encouraged to join the

green activities with TMNewa.

全球景氣經過2010年強勁復甦後,於2011年進入修正階

段,除了歐美等國龐大公債及高失業率外,年初又發生日本

311大地震與泰國水災等重大天災事件,使得2011年全球經

濟愈顯疲弱。

After the strong recovery in 2010, the global economy

entered a rectifying phase in 2011. Other than the huge

government debt and high unemployment rate in the US

and Europe, there were natural catastrophes such as the

Tohoku earthquake in Japan and the flooding in Thailand.

All these had slowed down the global economic growth

in 2011.

台灣經濟表現於2011年第1季,維持6.62%的經濟成長

率,但第2季起受全球經濟影響,使得第2到4季經濟成長率分

別為4.52%、3.42%、1.9%逐季下滑,全年實質經濟成長GDP

則由2011年8月預測之4.58%下修至4.04%,勉強守住4%。 

Taiwan kept a 6.62% growth rate in Q1, 2011;

however, affected by the global economy, the growth

rate had decreased to 4.52%, 3.42% and 1.9% from Q2 to

Q4 respectively. The Annual GDP growth was modified

from 4.58% (estimated in August) to 4.04%, and the actual

GDP growth barely reached 4%.

In the 2011 market, the gross written premiums totaled

NTD112.41 billion, grew by 6.9% compared to 2010; also,

the growth rate was 3.2 percentages higher than the

2010 growth rate of 3.7%. This was mainly contributed by

the 7.2% growth of motor insurance benefited from high

automobile sales and the 10% growth of commercial fire

insurance due to the new NAT CAT rate implemented on

July 1st. However, marine insurance and accident and

health insurance had a negative growth because of the

severe pricing competition in the market.

新安東京海上產險2011年直接簽單保費為82.6億元,較

2010年成長6.9%;市場佔有率與2010相同仍為7.4%,市場

排名維持第五名。這樣的成績來自於本公司掌握新車市場銷

售利基,極力開拓多元銷售通路、提升客戶服務品質;全年

度汽車保險、火災保險及傷害暨健康保險,分別成長9.9%、

4.5%及7.7%。唯有海上保險及新種險在審慎選擇業務的核保

政策下,分別負成長2.1%及5.7%。

At TMNewa, gross written premiums totaled NTD8.26

billion, grew by 6.9% compared to 2010, and our market

share remained at 7.4%, ranked 5th in the market. The

growth was mainly contributed by our foresight of the

new car sales plus our effort in expanding the distribution

channels and improving customer service quality. Motor

insurance, fire insurance and accident and health

insurance had grown by 9.9%, 4.5% and 5.7% respectively.

As for marine insurance and miscellaneous insurance,

under a policy of carefully chosen business, both had

grown negatively by 2.1% and 5.7%.

2011年本公司自留保費為69.2億元,淨自留保險賠款為

39.6億元,自留滿期損失率59.1%,稅後淨利為7.5億元,稅

後每股盈餘為2.51元,截至2011年12月31日之資產總額為

153.3億元。各險種經營現況分述如下:

Our net premium in 2011 totaled NTD 6.92 billion,

retained claim payment was NTD3.96 billion, net loss ratio

was 59.1%, net profit after tax was NTD750 million, EPS after

tax was NTD2.51, and total assets were NTD15.33 billion

as at December 31st, 2011. The operation results are as

follows:

汽車保險/ Motor Insurance2011年全市場汽車保險簽單保費為556.6億元,較2010年

成長7.2%。本公司則在持續建構多元化通路、不斷提高客戶

附加價值及以客戶需求為導向創新開發商品下,2011全年簽

單保費為56.8億元,成長10.0%。

In the 2011 market, the gross written premiums of

motor insurance was NTD55.66 billion, grew by 7.2%

compared to 2010. With our efforts in diversifying

our distribution channel, increasing added value for

customers and developing innovative products that are

customer-oriented, TMNewa's gross written premiums of

2011 totaled NTD5.68 billion, grew by 10%.

本公司2011年任意汽車保險自留保費為48.2億元,淨自

留保險賠款為27.6億元,自留滿期損失率60.4%,較2010年高

3.8%。除仍受2009年4月起進入費率自由化第三階段之影響

外,主要為2011年第三人傷害責任險與第三人財損責任險之

損失頻率及幅度均較2010年提高所致。2011年核保利潤達5.3

億元。

Our 2011 net premiums of voluntary motor insurance

was NTD4.82 billion, net retained claim payment was

NTD2.76 billion, and net loss ratio was 60.4%, which had

increased by 3.8% compared to 2010. Other than the

effect of the third phase of deregulation since April 2009,

the increase in the loss frequency and the loss margin of

casualty insurance for the third party was the main reason

for the loss ratio increase. The underwriting profit reached

NTD530 million.

火災保險/ Fire Insurance2011年因市場自7月1日起實施的新制天災險費率致大部

分巨額保單於6月底前終止契約重新出單及2010年重大損失案

件於2011年提高續保保費兩項因素,全市場火災保險簽單保

費197.2億元,較2010年成長10.0%。

The new NAT CAT rate was implemented on July 1st,

2011, which had made most corporate customers of large

amounts to early end their policies and renew to new

ones; plus, the 2011 renewal rate was increased for those

with serious loss records in 2010. The market gross written

premiums of fire insurance totaled NTD19.72 billion, grew

by 10% compared to 2010.

本公司全年簽單保費為8.9億元,成長4.8%,以積極培養

人員專業能力提供客戶完善損害防阻、財產保障規劃及適時

調整保險費率來增進市場競爭優勢的策略運用奏效,成長率

已由2010年之負成長率1.0%提高至正成長4.8%。

The gross written premium of TMNewa's fire insurance

totaled NTD890 million, grew by 4.8%. We continue

training professionals to offer well-planned property

insurances with loss prevention schemes; we also adjust

our rates according to the market to stay competitive.

Our growth rate had turned positive to 4.8% from the 2010

growth rate of -1%.

2011年自留保費為3.1億元,淨自留保險賠款為 1.8億

元,自留滿期損失率55.5%,核保利潤為73.6佰萬元,2011年

損失率較2010年減少7.1個百分點。

In 2011, our net premiums totaled NTD310 million,

retained claim payment was NTD180 million, net loss ratio

was 55.5% and underwriting profit was NTD73.6 million.

Our 2011 net loss ratio had decreased remarkably 7.1

percentages compared to 2010.

2012年預期因天災費率調整以致競爭更趨激烈,市場規

模短期內應無法擴大;同時亦考量全球天災發生頻率不斷提

高,本公司將在風險評估、費率適足的前提下,積極面對市

場競爭,並利用建置資訊系統協助提升工作效率,以達成年

度的經營目標。

We anticipate a more competitive year in 2012 for

the adjusted NAT CAT rate so that our market scale might

not be expanded in a short time. Meanwhile, considering

the increase of natural catastrophes worldwide, we will

face the competition with risk evaluation and sufficient

rates. Plus the enhanced efficiency helped by IT systems,

our business goal of 2012 can be achieved.

海上保險/ Marine Insurance2011年全市場海上保險簽單保費為98.9億元,成長

1.3%,其中貨物運輸險、商業動產流動綜合保險、內陸運輸

險及運送人責任險簽單保費為60.0億元,成長率為3.8%。

The 2011 market gross written premium of marine

insurance totaled NTD9.89 billion, grew by 1.3%; in which,

the gross written premium of cargo insurance, commercial

property floater insurance, inland transit insurance and

carrier's liability insurance totaled NTD6 billion, grew by

3.8%.

本公司全年海上保險簽單保費為3.8億元,負成長2.1%,

而貨物運輸險、商業動產流動綜合保險、內陸運輸險及運送

人責任險簽單保費為2.8億元,成長0.1%,主因是國內進出

口貿易增漲幅度已較2010年趨緩所致成長有限。另外,船體

carrier's liability insurance totaled NTD280 million, grew

by 0.1%. This is mainly because the growth of trade

volume in 2011 was not as strong as in 2010; plus, the 7.5%

negative growth of marine hull insurance, fishing vessel

insurance and aviation insurance generated a gross

written premium of only NTD110 million. The reason is that

we were very careful in the business selection and took a

conservative strategy to reduce our business volume.

2011年自留保費為1.6億元,淨自留保險賠款為50.4佰萬

元,自留滿期損失率32.2%,核保利潤為62.6佰萬元。

Our 2011 net premiums totaled NTD160 mill ion,

retained claim payment was NTD50.4 million, net loss ratio

is 32.2% and underwriting profit totaled NTD62.6 million.

展望2012年,仍持續以貨物運輸險為發展主軸並全力

拓展良質業務,對於其他險種則著重風險考量而審慎篩選業

務,以「質量並重」的穩健經營策略,確保達成業績目標及

核保利潤。

In 2012, cargo insurance and the expansion of its

quality business will continue to be our main concern. As

for other insurances, quality is as significant as quantity

according to our business strategy. As a result, attention

will be paid at risk evaluation and business quality

selection to make sure that our business goals and

underwriting profit can be achieved.

新種保險/ Miscellaneous Insurance新種保險2011年全市場簽單保費為134.2億元,較2010

年成長3.5%,其中工程險簽單保費為44.3億元,全年度成長

7.3%,主因係來自多項大型公共工程建設及民間投資高科技

廠房等。責任險簽單保費為68.1億元,成長10.2%,其成長來

自於汽車延長保固險、董監事責任險及外銷產品責任險的費

率調整,以及僱主補償責任險保費持續增加。其他險簽單保

費為21.8億元,負成長18.1%,主要係貿易信用險費率調降所

致。

T h e 2 0 1 1 m a r k e t g r o s s w r i t t e n p r e m i u m o f

miscellaneous insurance totaled NTD13.42 billion, grew

by 3.5% compared to 2010. The gross written premium

of engineering insurance totaled NTD4.43 billion with a

7.3% growth, and was mainly benefited from a number

of sizable public constructions and private investment

of high-tech factories. The gross written premium of

liability insurance totaled NTD6.81 billion with a 10.2%

growth, which was contributed by the rate adjustments

of automobile extended warranty contractual liability

insurance, directors and officers insurance and exports

liability insurance as well as the increasing premium rate of

employers' liability insurance. The gross written premium

of other insurance totaled NTD2.18 billion, decreased by

18.1%, mainly due to the rate reduction of the trade credit

insurance.

5.6%,工程險簽單保費為1.5億元,成長率為負3.5%。責任險

pricing competition. The gross written premium of other

insurance decreased by 14.5% and totaled NTD310 million

by reason of the rate reduction of trade liability insurance.

The net premiums of TMNewa's miscellaneous

insurance totaled NTD320 mil l ion, retained claim

payment was NTD130 million and net loss ratio was 40.6%.

Regardless of the 9.8 percentages increase in the loss

ratio, we reached our business goal with underwriting

profit of NTD94.9 million.

面對2012年,工程險在預期政府公共工程及民間投資

將減緩,巿場規模不易擴大,低費率的市場環境短期內難有

突破,故將致力加強風險評估,持續提供優勢費率及條件積

極開發中小型業務。責任險及其他險方面,適時調整報價條

件以鞏固及拓展業務,同時輔以資訊系統強化報價效率及落

實續保管理,即時反應市場需求,創造競爭優勢,期能達成

2012年保費收入及核保利潤目標。

For 2012, expansion of engineering insurance will

be limited due to the expected reduction in both public

constructions and private investments. Expansion is also

difficult with a low market rate; therefore, efforts will be

put into risk evaluation and the exploring business of

small-and-medium size with better rates and offerings. As

for liability insurance and other insurance, quoted prices

and offering will be adjusted timely to consolidate and

expand our business. Moreover, IT systems will help with

quoting efficiency and renewal management, as well as

the quick reaction to the market to create competitive

advantage. We look forward to achieving our goals of

premium income and underwriting profit.

傷害暨健康保險/ Accident and Health Insurance

2011年全市場傷害暨健康保險簽單保費為137.2億元,較

2010年成長9.4%,為近3年來成長率首次低於10%以下。本公

司簽單保費為5.8億元,成長5.4%。

The 2011 market gross written premium of accident

and health insurance grew by 9.4% and totaled NTD13.72

billion, of which the growth rate dropped below 10%

for the first time in the recent three years. TMNewa's

gross written premium totaled NTD580 million with a 5.4%

growth.

2011年自留保費為5.7億元,淨自留保險賠款為2.7億

元,自留滿期損失率在延續損率控管及業務品質篩選為重的

策略下,已由2010年之48.3%再下降至47.5%;核保利潤則由

2010年虧損43.5佰萬元,提高至盈餘18.1佰萬元。

In 2011, net premium was NTD570 million, retained

claim payment was NTD270 million. Net loss ratio had

decreased from 48.3% of 2010 to 47.5% of 2011, and

underwriting profit had increased from a net loss of

NTD43.5 million in 2010 to a net profit of NTD18.1 million.

鑑於損失率控管等相關措施已於2010及2011年發揮效

能,讓本險種業務品質有明顯改善;2012年傷害暨健康保險

仍將秉持此策略,持續拓展良質通路,改善理賠及續保服務

品質,開發差異化商品加強區隔市場,讓2012年度的經營目

標能順利達成。

Loss control scheme had shown its effects in 2010

and 2011 and greatly improved the business quality of

accident and health insurance. We will stay with our

strategies in 2012 and keep on exploring distribution

channels of good qualities, improving the claim and

renewal service and developing diversified products for

each market segment; so that 2012 business goals can be

achieved.

Our rates are modified timely to stay competitive in the

market. For claim service, with the gradual increase of

differentiated service cases, we keep on computerizing

claim management and increasing manpower to

management, assisted by Risk and Insurance Research

Center of NCCU, courses relating to risk management

and insurance are offered to board members for their

knowledge in risk control. Also, in response to the risk

management legal requests by authorities, internal

control of risk management is implemented to meet such

demands. For staff training, human resource is a vital

asset to a corporation; therefore, cultivating insurance

professionals is a perpetual work of the company.

Education regarding products, sales and regulations is

provided for the sales personnel to provide customers the

best service. For corporate social responsibility, we realize

our CSR spirit of contributing to our neighborhood and our

society by various volunteering and charity activities such

as guarding children to cross streets after school, donating

learning materials, sponsoring after-school programs and

hiring local adults to teach in remote areas⋯etc. with the
