AdmissionsAll candidates for the APE Masters degree are subject to a selective admissions process.

Candidates must demonstrate an excellent aptitude for learning the analytical and

quantitative tools that are the hallmark of the training at PSE. A background in Economics is

not required for admission to M1.

For the 2013-2014 academic year: applications before 01/03/2013 (for an answer mid-April)

or before 27/05/2013 (for an answer mid- July). The probability of acceptance is equal

whether you apply in March or May. However, we encourage foreign candidates to apply in

March to have more time to better prepare their stay in Paris. Important: Applications

rejected in March will not be reconsidered in May. Admissions notified following the

successful applications are conditional on obtaining the required qualifying diploma before

September 2013, i.e a Bachelor degree for Admission in M1.

From a formal point of view, APE Masters students are registered at the EHESS. The final

degrees are thus delivered by the EHESS.

Undertaking a PhD at PSEThe PhD degree is a three- to four-year programme devoted to thesis writing. Students can

access the PSE doctoral programme after they have completed, with the required academic

results, a PSE Masters programme. During their PhD, students are hosted by one of the PSE

research units. PSEs doctoral programme currently has a total of 200 students, at various

stages of their thesis. The thesis work, which is indispensable training for research, is carried

out under the direction of a thesis supervisor, with the support of a thesis committee. Both

of our campuses provide research facilities for doctoral students. In an encouraging

environment with high academic standards, PSE offers exceptional scholarly training, as

shown by the prizes won every year by our young doctors: Young Economist Award [N.

Guyon and F. Mayneris in 2010, G. Zucman in 2011] Prix de these AFSE [J. Grenet in 2009, J.

    Hagenbach in 2010, G. Cassan in 2012]
