The three sons sat ramrod straight in their father’s presence as they listened to his explicit instructions. Their father was embarking on a long journey for an extended amount of time and his return date was unknown. He was bequeathing his precious sons with knowledge to be able to disseminate his ideologies to improve the world. The sons listened attentively and promised to fulfill their father’s wishes.
Time passed and the sons pondered the best way to fulfill their father’s wishes. Each brother was so very different from the other and thus their creative minds found a different route to observe their father’s words.
The brothers would clarify to each other their opinion and the route they were pursuing yet each one felt strongly that the other was misinterpreting their father’s legacy. It hurt one the other to see their approaches and they tried to persuade each other to follow the path which they deemed correct. Their fierce love for each other and their father did not allow them to just let matters lie. They explained and explained and held discourses as they tried to convince one the other until the situation deteriorated to the point where they still loved each other but could not respect each other.
The situation would have further derailed if not for a wise friend who stepped in and asked the brothers to recall the earliest memory of their father. One remembered
his father kissing him at night; another said a memory of his father stopping a squabble and the other remembered his father warning him to always look out for his brothers.
The wise friends continued and said, “You are trying to fulfill your father’s wishes in spreading his wisdom yet you are overlooking his most important legacy which is love one for the other!
Everyone of Rabbi Akiva’s Talmidim were great Chachamim, each felt that he, and only he, truly understood their Rebbi’s path. Their great love for each other caused them to try and force their understanding on each other. We can rectify this by understanding that love means loving someone different, and respecting that very difference by realizing that another’s understanding may be very different than your own, but very much the same—in the sense that it too is truth.

Clean Your VaseClean your vase after your flowers wilt by rubbing the ring of deposit with salt and then washing it with soapy water. NOTE: If you hand does not fit inside the vase, fill the vase with a strong solution of salt and water, shake and brush gently with a bottle brush and then rinse. Enjoy your clean clear vase!
New Wicker FurnitureWicker furniture can yellow due to age and exposure to sun and elements. Keep your wicker as good as new by scrubbing it with a stiff brush dipped in warm salt water and by drying it in the sun. Repeat this process every year or other.
Your Broom’s Life-spanA new straw broom will last longer if you soak its bristles in a bucket of hot, salty water. After 20 minutes, remove the broom and let it dry.
Brass & Copper PolishBrass or copper items will tarnish over time. To shine them, create a paste by mixing equal parts of salt, flour and vinegar and then use a soft cloth to rub this over the item. Rinse with warm, soapy water and buff back to original shine.
Restore Your Sponges
Hand sponges and mop sponges usually get grungy beyond use long before they require replacement. To restore sponges to a pristine state, soak them overnight in a solution of 1/4 cup salt per quart (liter) of water.

A Danish study recently published in Heart has found that resting heart rate is an independent predictor of mortality. The study followed 2,798 subjects for 16 years and over the course of that time, found that those with elevated resting heart rates had a higher risk of mortality. Further, the study found that those individuals with a resting heart rate greater than 90 were at highest risk. The risk of mortality was found to increase 16% per 10 beats per minute. Compared to subjects with a resting heart rate below 50, those at 71-80 beats per minute had a 51% greater risk of mortality; at 81-90 beats per minute, the risk of mortality doubled, and over 90, it tripled.
A similar study published in Circulation: Heart Failure found similar results. This study analyzed data from Rotterdam Study. This study excluded patients with prevalent heart failure and found similar results: resting heart rate is an independent
risk factor for the development of heart failure in healthy older men in the general population.
Naturally, heart rate can vary amongst individuals; stress levels, physical fitness and prescription medications can affect heart rate. There are several lifestyle changes that benefit the resting heart rate including exercise, decreasing stress,
avoiding tobacco products and losing weight, if necessary. It’s not surprising that exercising every day can gradually decrease your resting
heart rate; it can also benefit patients who want to lose weight. Healthy stress management can also provide long term benefits. Practices like meditation, tai chi and biofeedback can help to lower resting heart rate over time. Listen to your heart. It might be a substantial predictor of the future.

Walking through the Malheur National Forest in eastern Oregon you would be hard pressed to notice it. But a fungus spreading through the roots of trees now covers 2,200 acres, making it the largest living organism ever found.
Popularly known as the honey mushroom, the mushroom started from a single spore too small to see without a microscope and has been weaving its black shoestring filaments through the forest for an estimated 2,400 years, killing trees as it grows. When you’re on the ground, you don’t notice the pattern, you just see dead trees in clusters,
The outline of the giant fungus, strikingly similar to a mushroom, stretches 3.5 miles across, and extends an average of three feet into the ground.
“There hasn’t been anything measured with any scientific technique that has shown any plant or animal to be larger than this,” said Gregory Filip, associate professor of integrated forest protection at Oregon State University and an expert in Armillaria.
