TAX

We conduct assignments related to tax consulting and

planning as well as litigation at all judicial and admi-

nistrative levels throughout the country. We provide

legal services on tax matters to more than 70% of the

100 largest Brazilian companies.

In the judicial sphere, we represent clients in cases of

different technical complexity and monetary volume,

acting both as plaintiff and defendant, and which pro-

duce effects in several economic sectors. The Firm’s

performance before the highest courts in Brasília – the

Superior Tribunal of Justice (STJ) for non-constitutio-

nal matters and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) for

constitutional questions – is of great importance to pro-

tect the fundamental rights of taxpayers and put into

practice the limits of Government taxing power. This is

of a high importance since due to the procedural instru-

ments related to the repetitive appeal (“recurso repetiti-

ve”) and the general repercussion (“repercussão geral”)

Whether involving the public social security system or

private pension entities, we act in both the litigation

and consulting areas, representing clients in the admi-

nistrative and judicial spheres, and preparing legal opi-

nions. We also conduct legal due diligence exercises, su-

pport private pension plans structuring, and formulate

measures to reduce our clients’ social security costs.

Atuamos na defesa dos interesses de nossos clien-

tes no contencioso trabalhista judicial e adminis-

trativo, e em consultoria preventiva através da

elaboração de pareceres versando sobre os mais

We work on defending the interests of our clients on

judicial and administrative labor litigation, as well as

on preventive consulting through legal opinions on all

aspects of labor relations, including evaluation of labor

risks inherent to transactions intended by our clients.

complex litigation and arbitration involving several in-

dustries, such as mining, energy/oil & gas, transporta-

tion, telecommunications, foods and beverages and in-

Our litigation team represent several public concessio-

naries and is very experienced in disputes involving cor-

porate, contractual, civil and product liabilities, admi-

nistrative & public laws and real estate matters.

Our arbitration experience includes acting under the

rules of the ICC, CCBC, Fiesp/Ciesp, among other

centers, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations. We also as-

sist clients in mediations and in the pre-arbitral phase

REAL ESTATE

We render assistance in the purchase and sale of real es-

tate for the structuring and developing of real estate pro-

jects, construction of residential and commercial under-

takings as well as office buildings, hotels and shopping

centers. We prepare and negotiate agreements related to,

among others, purchase and sale, guarantees (mortgage,

trust deeds, etc), exchange, surface right, lease (typical,

non-typical, build-to-suit), free lease, construction and

rural leases. We carry out all phases of a real estate due

diligence focusing on the checking and identification of

risks as well as on the advice of strategic solutions. We

also assist clients with regularization of title, rectification

of areas, segregation and unification of plots of land.

We also provide assistance in the setting up of real

estate investment funds and issuance of real estate re-
