As you know, we are well underway with our Capital Campaign, “Catholic Strong”. We are already planning a first project and possibly a second as summer comes along. The project we are excited about is the removal of the wallpaper in the Church and repainting the entire Church, Vestibule and Sacristy area. The funds already raised will help pay the estimated cost of approximately $15,000 dollars. The second endeavor will be to clean the area on the right side of the driveway coming into the Church. This will be done in conjunction with Wedgewood School in order to make that property look presentable and safe. That job is estimated at approximately $25,000 dollars. If we are blessed and have additional funds, a third project will be discussed.
There is also tax incentive\break for those who have Traditional IRAs and are 70 and ½ years of age who are required to take distributions from their Traditional IRAs. When you withdraw from Traditional IRAs you must claim that money as income, however, if you instruct your brokerage\bank to send your distribution or whatever percentage you choose directly from the brokerage to your choice of charity you can deduct that from your total income. It must, however be directly from the brokerage, bank, etc., to the Charity. If you receive the money first
and then decide to donate it cannot be deducted. Please call me or email so I can be of further assistance if you wish to set up something of this nature to take advantage of the tax break. How to do it? Contact your IRA provider and ask for its charitable-distribution form. This does not work with a 401k or with a Roth IRA. I thank John Bagley, a parishioner of ours who brought this to our attention.
Our finance council is looking into other incentives and possible tax helps with your contributions, the tax laws are changing in 2018 so we are doing all we can to help provide that information to you as you so generously continue to give to Holy Family. If you come across anything as well please share it with me so that our parishioners can be informed.
Again, thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and love of our parish. I know that together we will reach our goal. With $892.000 dollars that will return to our parish we will secure a great future for our children and the generation that follows.
God bless you,
Father John
Reflections from Father John
The 2018 House of Charity is in progress and we need your help to reach this year’s parish goal of $201,500. We know that contributing to the House of Charity requires a sacrifice on your part and we ask that you prayerfully consider contributing to this worthwhile campaign if you have not yet done so.
To date we have received $151,803 (75.5 percent of our goal) in donations and pledges.
We thank those who have already contributed. Know that your gift is appreciated here at Holy Family and by the many who will benefit from your generosity.

“I am the good shepherd...and I lay down my life for the sheep…and they will heed my voice.” - JOHN 10:14-16 When you pray, do you only ask Jesus for the things that you want? Do you ever ask Him what He wants from you? How do Stewards listen for His response? Usually, the answer is in “quiet whispers”, so take time every day, in silence, to actively listen for His response.
