TRANSCRIPT

An architecture enthusiast at heart and fortunate enough to be studying it, I Radhika Munshi, am a B.Arch student in the final year. I have always had a keen interest in sketching and that’s what pulled me towards architecture. I feel that every building should have its own story, should be unique and should speak volumes. And that is what I strive to achieve in my works. Also, I am an outdoors person, I like to be with nature and I love to swinature and I love to swim.

Functions performed by centre:

Health Centre : created on the site near college campuses, it has sports and activity centres, along with a library. Also a jogging track with stepped seating for health and recreation.

Commercial Centre : created on the site near road junction, it will have direct public access. The multiplex will cater to retail and restaurant for food. Leased office space will generate extra revenue.

Tourism centre : created on the site near expo centre, it has an OAT to stage public events, auditorium, haat for handicrafts and a sculpture park. Its purpose is to attract visitors.

Site Plan

Site Zoning

Health ClubInIn the centre a water body creates a good space for recreation. A jogging track around it is inviting. Club is created in middle of contoured landscaping. The stepped greens are an interactive space to sit and relax. They add dynamism as people can step up and down through themdown through them

Circular form of the art gallery terminating at the PEAK : showing the road to top of mountain

Gradually rising gallery space with the pyramidal skylight: replicating mountain peak and creating a range ofmountain

Topmost point at centre- The PEAK,giving a holistic view of museum and surroundings: similar to peak of a mountain

Bridge connecting galleries: like a bridge over flowing river

As the gallery modules rise gradually, after a certain level, enough spaces are created beneath the galleries which are used as workshops.Under the Peak, a plaza is created with access to workshops and a direct access from entrance to OAT is also created.

As the galleries rise upto a floor level, bridges run above the paths to connect them. These are like bridges over rivers. The main attraction is the peak which provides a panormic view of mountain range created on site and also of the canal surronding it.

modular unit

Plan of module is inspired from pieces of jigsaw puzzle which can interlock into each other and create the desired form. It also provides segregated viewing and circulation spaces.

TheThe roof is in three layers : girders with linear curved skylights over circulation path; slab over it; and pyramidal skylights resting on the slabs. When light passes through the two skylights and enters gallery, it is cleared of its harmful UV radiations which may damage the artefacts.

Infinity pool and capsule lift facing the stadium.Lift emerges from the pool.Double height terrace gardens on each floor ‘Le Jardin’.Juxtaposition of the two towers to get maximum open space. From rooms, view of site looks like a garden.
