1 Corinthians 14:1-5 (NKJV)

• 14 Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. 2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. 3 But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. 4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. 5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.

Called to be a Prophet• Jeremiah 1:5 (NKJV)• 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I

Merriam-Webster Dictionary.• Prophet:• : a member of some religions (such as

Christianity, Judaism, and Islam) who delivers messages that are believed to have come from God• the Prophet —used as another name for

Muhammad, the founder of Islam• the Prophets : the writers of the books of

the Bible that describe what will happen in the future

Who is a Prophet?• A Prophet is a person who stands in the

presence of GOD ALMIGHTY and:• Tells what ever he sees or hears, and• Does whatever the Lord requires.• Is an intercessor.

Main characteristic of a Prophet• To Stand in the presence of the Lord.• To be transformed in His presence.• Dying to self.

• Jeremiah 1:9 (NKJV)• 9 Then the LORD put forth His hand and

touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me:• “Behold, I have put My words in your

mouth.

• Isaiah 50:4-5 (NKJV)• 4 “The Lord GOD has given Me

• STANDING IN HIS PRESENCE A MUST!

• 1 Corinthians 2:16 (NKJV)• 16 For “who has known the mind of the

LORD that he may instruct Him?”[a] But we have the mind of Christ.

• Amos 3:7 (NKJV)• 7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing,

Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

• 2 Peter 1:21 (NKJV)• 21 for prophecy never came by the will of

man, but holy men of God[a] spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

• Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts

• Are you willing to stand in His presence and allow Him to use you?

• The spirit of prophesy can be imparted!

• Ask to the Holy Spirit to impart it in you.
