completamente in Polipropilene Copolimero Random.
aria compressa e sostanze chimiche.

3.1 Design and system installation
The design of the systems (for hot and cold water), calculation, layoutand installation, must be made in accordance with applicable standardsof each country. In Italy the standard is UNI 9182. For other fields ofapplication, according to requirements, applicable standards should beused.
3.2 Losses of pressure
The pressure loss values for straight runs ofARIETE25 pipes canbe obtained from diagram (Fig.2).
3.2 Pressure loss in ARIETE25fittings
The data shown in (Fig.3) can be used to determine the resistanceratings of individual fittings. All values are approximate.The pressure loss of all fittings must be taken into account whendesigning a system. This may be assumed as an additional 3 to 5%of the total system loss.

3.4 Length variation of PP-Random pipes due to heating(thermal stress)
PP-Random pipes, if subjected to a variation in temperature, have relativelylarge thermal expansion.Their longitudinal expansion is about 11 times more than similar steel pipes.This phenomenon must be taken into account during installation, and thepossible movement through the whole installation, due to thermalexpansion, must be calculated and allowed for in the design phase.The longitudinal thermal expansion coefficient for
ARIETE25pipes is:
Variations in length for pipes up to 10 m long may be obtained from Fig.4in the following page.
The length variation of a pipe is calculated according to the following formula,and is independent of its diameter and thickness:
where:L = linear thermal expansion (mm)t = longitudinal expansion coefficient mm/mC
L = Length of pipe (m)t = temperature difference (C)The calculation of the length variation (L) of the pipe is based on its designtemperature.The calculation is further clarified in the following examples. Examples: for 8m and design temperature + 16C.1. minimum temperature of pipe wall = + 9C (e.g. cold water pipe)
difference in t = 16C - 9C = 7C2. maximum temperature of pipe wall = + 70C (e.g. hot water pipe)
difference in t = 70C - 16C = 54CIn case 1: pipe contraction = 8 m x 7C x 0.15 = 8.4 mmIn case 2: pipe expansion = 8 m x 54C x 0.15 = 64.8 mmIn most cases the variation in length may be compensated by making a
change in the direction of the pipes.Ensure the piping can move freely along its axial direction.If a variation in length cannot be compensated for by a change in direction,an expansion curve must be used.However, axial compensation using expansion curves is not generally idealand is expensive.To obtain the necessary compensation, it i s necessary to calculate the lengthof the curve arm. The calculation can be made using the following formula:
where:Ls = arm length (mm)d = external diameter of the pipe (mm)
L = length variation (mm)K = constant depending on the material used (for PP-R = 30).
t = 1,5 104 (K1)
Ls = K d L (mm)
L = L x t t (mm)
L = variazione di lunghezza (mm)K = costante dipendente dal materiale impiegato (per il PP-R = 30).
Ls = K d L (mm)
t = 1,5 104
(K1
)
L = L x t t (mm)

4.1 Punto fisso e punto scorrevole
4.1 Fixed and sliding points
The type and distance between attachment fixings depends upon theinstallation requirements and any axial expansion of the pipe.The fixed points must divide the piping installation into sections, wherea contraction or expansion is possible, without ever exer ting any force onthe fixings or fittings. Movement is allowed by using sliding fixings andchange in direction arms. The distance between the arm and the dis-tance between fixing points depends mainly upon the operating condi-tions, the pipe material, and the piping weight (including its fluid).In practice the distances given in table Fig.6 have been found to be valid.
4.3 Giunzione tramite filettatura
4.3 Threaded joints
Joining must only be made using identical types of male and female
threads (see DIN 2999).It is recommended that tapering threads are not used with PP-R femalefittings having cylindrical threads.
4.2 Bending
Cold bending may be used when the bending radius is at least 8 timesthe pipe diameter, while for smaller curves the section to be bent must
be first heated using a stream of hot air (such as from a hair drier).The use of a flame is absolutely prohibited.
4.2 Curvatura

4.4 Sealing
To ensure a good seal, as for metal pipes, wrap with teflon or similar
tape. Do not add too much tape.
4.4 Tenuta idraulica
4.6 Low temperatures
When temperatures approach 0C, ARIETE 25 tends to
become fragile and therefore additional measures must be taken duringall operations, and as below described at page 11,
care must be taken during cutting of the pipes.It is good practice to always drain piping when thewater is expected to freeze, since the increase in vol-
ume might break the pipe.
4.7 Exposure to UV radiationARIETE
25 -unamdnadengisedtcudorpetad-ot-punasi
factured for years of service.
Although the material has been stabilized against UV radiation, it isrecommended that PP-R piping is not installed in positions exposed to UVrays, without adequate protection.
4.8 Storage
Consequently, ARIETE 25 pipesand fittings must be stored carefully andprotected against sunlight.
The height of the pipes pile should be nomore than 1,5 mt.
4.8 Immagazzinaggio
Conseguentemente i tubi e raccordi
ARIETE25 itanizzagammionnav,
4.5 Transportation - Installation
During these phases, the surfaces ofARIETE

5.1 Polyfusion welding
The principal characteristic ofARIETE25and all thermoplastics
in general is the possibility to make a molecular bond by means of fusionor welding.This process is carried out using heating elements. The preferred temper-ature for welding ARIETE25 is 260C ( 5).ARIETE
25 pipes are socket welded using a heating element.
In this way the pipes and fittings are joined by overlapping.The heating of the end of the pipe and socket of the fitting is made witha spindle and bushing heating element.Welding preparationCut the pipe perpendicular and smooth off any sharp corners of the cut.Use alcohol and paper towel to thoroughly clean the end of the pipe andthe socket of the fitting. Mark the depth of the socket on the pipe (asshown in Fig.8).Note:check that the heating element has reached the required tem-perature of 260C ( 5).
Making the welded jointThe pipe is quickly and firmly pushed into the bushing up to the mark,while the fitting is slipped over the spindle. During this operation the pipeand the fitting must be held firmly without any turning movement. Thesurfaces of the pieces to be joined must be heated according to the timegiven in Fig.7; after this time, the pieces are withdrawn from the heatingelement and immediately joined without any turning movement: the pipemust be inserted up to the mark, that is right up to the bottom of the socket.The two pieces must be held together for the heating time given in Fig.7.The welded joint must not be mechanically stressed until the cooling timehas elapsed.
After each welding operation, the spindle and bushing of the heating ele-ment must be thoroughly cleaned.

Electric coupling
TheARIETE25PP-Random electrically heated sleeve couplingfitting is the result of studies and of a production technology tested. Thiselectric fitting is equipped with a removable clamping ring.This system provides a precise clamp when inserting the pipe and is veryuseful for making repairs; the sleeve fitting can slide freely along thepipe when the stop ring is removed.
5.2 Welding using an electrofusion machine
The electrofusion machine works on a very simple principle; using a spe-cial and exclusive technology, an adequately sized electric resistance isbuilt into the body of the sleeve coupling, which can connect the fittingto the electrofusion machine by means of terminal pins. To make theweld it is only necessary to connect the terminal pins to the machine,press the Start button and the current flowing through the resistance,will develop enough heat to create an excellent fusion between thesleeve and the pipe.
5.3 Threaded joints
All metal inserts of ARIETE 25 fittings are made of brass, withcylindrical gas threading, and the threading is in accordance with ISO 228 and DIN2999 standards.

To make an accurate electric sleeve weld, cut the end parts to be joined carefully, perpendicu-lar to the axis.
Insert the pipe into the sleeve, marking the pipewith a suitable pencil so as to exactly centre thesleeve and to avoid any eventual withdrawal.
During the welding process and the following cooling phase, do not move or stress any parts forat least 4 minutes.Wait at least 2 hours (from the end of the welding process) before any pressure test can bemade on the installation.
