IAUS358: Context & Location• The IAU Proposal was a result of an early engagement

with the IAU community and the need for action;

• Relevant to all IAU Divisions, Commissions and Working Groups to produce better science;

• In Japan, NAOJ Accessibility and Inclusion research group hosted three symposiums on equity and inclusion since 2010;

• 日本天文学会(ASJ)・日本学術会議(SCJ:予定)が後援

• Lay grounds for future IAU resolutions on Astronomy for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion policies.

International Astronomical Union (IAU)

Founded in 1919, the IAU is the world's largest professional body for astronomers.

Its mission is to promote and safeguard astronomy in all its aspects, including research, communication, education and development, through international cooperation.

The IAU also serves as the internationally recognised authority. Resolutions are voted and adopted by the General Assembly in matters of importance for all of astronomy or for the IAU as a whole.
