The semi-finished product specifications shall be entered only once (even if a choice isoffered between several alternate materials).

6.12.2 Entry of the material without semi-finished product specification

Only the material shall be entered for parts which are machined to finished dimensionsall around if no mechanical properties of a semi-finished product are required

    6.12.3 Optional materials

Several material entries offer a choice between options. Such options require no specialidentification.

6.12.4 Material specifications for rubber or plastic parts[03]

For rubber or plastic parts, the corresponding materials from the material data base shallbe entered in the master data sheet, using the code numbers defined in ATE N 12502.XX / 126 01.XX.

An additional entry identifying the manufacturer is not permitted.

Code numbers for new materials shall be defined by the User Processes StandardsDepartment when the data of the materials is known and has been released by theCentral Laboratory. Polymer materials (e.g. plastics and rubber materials) which havenot previously been used and are therefore also not entered in SAP-PLM require aspecial release.Every manufacturer uses different mixture compositions, even when the base polymerremains the same. Corresponding tests are defined in order to ensure that the materialsmeet the subsequent requirements. Release of the material indicates that this is thecase. This also ensures that the material is properly entered in the IMDS database.

For this purpose, ATE N 101 13.01 has been created as a process procedure to ensurecorrect working procedures and define responsibilities in the release procedure.

This standard is binding in accordance with the scope as per section 1 of this standard.

    6.17 Drawings of unmachined parts

    6.17.1 Identification of unmachined parts

For the identification of unmachined parts with the manufacturer's mark and date, theapplicable standard, i.e. ATE N 101 06.XX (depending on the design activity involved)shall be entered in the master data sheet under References.

    6.17.2 Mounting points

All points serving to mount a part in the tool shall be defined as early as possible in thecourse of the development process. In the drawing, the cross-sectioned areas shall beframed in accordance with the geometry of the mounting arrangement (line thickness0.25).

    Examples:

The cross-sectioned area shall be entered in field 7* of the drawing area together with itsnotes hexagon.

In fields 3* and 4*, this entry shall be explained as follows:

Text in notes column Symbol identifying operation

    Register point andmeasurement reference point

6.18 Several item codes (part numbers) on one drawing

Drawings with two numbers must be distinguished from collective drawings (chartdrawings). A separate master data sheet shall be created for each item code. Drawingswith two numbers are used for mirror-inverted parts if only one part is drawn.Collective drawings (chart drawings) consist of a pictorial representation with a table ofdimensions.

    6.18.1 Drawings with two numbers

Only one drawing is prepared for parts which can be depicted by mirror-invertedrepresentation (right-hand and left-hand design). The first number identifies the part asdrawn (left-hand design, odd number), the second number (right-hand design, evennumber) the mirror-inverted design.Release and revision levels as well as weight specification must be identical for bothdesigns.

    Example: Left-hand design (1) and right-hand design (2)

    6.18.2 Collective drawings[03]

A collective drawing (document carrier) consists of a pictorial illustration of a part and atable listing the specific dimensions of several parts. Each of these parts is assigned to aseparate item code.

The creation of new collective drawings should be avoided wherever possible.

    Seite/Page 22 v./of 38

    * see pages 31 to 3782.9201-0000.4 / 807 / 01

Where existing collective drawings are changed, the following points must be compliedwith in SAP-PLM:

    - The collective drawing document carrier (SZD) contains the parts with similargeometry that are listed in the table of the drawing as References. Note that only thelast version is entered in the Object linkage screen.

    - Material, weight and other information regarding the respective material/part may notbe assigned to the document carrier (collective drawing). This information mustalways be assigned to the DIS of the item code itself. If this rule is not observed, thematerial cannot be automatically identified and evaluated for the Directive on End-of-Life Vehicles.

6.19 Referencing of drawings which must be changed together[03]

Drawings which must be mutually taken into account in the event of changes must havethe following entry in the notes columns (fields 3* and 4*):

IN THE EVENT OF CHANGES, ALSO CHANGE XX.XXXX-XXXX.X

    Note:

In older Catia V4 drawing frames, there used to be an entry field in the drawing frame forentering a consecutive number in a hexagon which was then put at the front in the notescolumns (fields 3* and 4*) as per the text - this entry field is no longer present in thecurrent drawing frame. For this reason, this text shall be entered without a consecutivenumber!

6.20 Drawing and parts list combined on one form (PLC)

A PLC is a combination of a drawing and a parts list on one form. This representation

may no longer be used for new designs for EDP reasons.

F08 releases shall contain no PLC and no parts lists or parts which cannot be set in thePLC system. When PLC drawings are changed, they shall be separated into drawings and parts liststo make them system-compatible.

    6.21 Supersedes entry[03]

If a new drawing or parts list supersedes a released drawing or parts list, an entry withthe index of the document version (DV) and a text comprising the words same numberfrom and the date of first issue shall be made in field 18* (drawing), field 17* (part list) orfield 6* (master data sheet). This entry may be abbreviated as follows:

    Example: German 09 GL. NR. V. 30.09.05

    English 09 SM. NO. F. 30.09.05

The entry can be broken down as follows:

09 - The version number of the drawing being replaced (the new version number would be 10 in this case)

SM. NO. F. - Same number from (date)

30.09.05 - Date of making this current version, according to calendar date ofthis modified version.

    Note:

This field must not be filled out for changes or a simple increase in version number.

    6.22 Photo releases

Photo releases are possible by way of exception to meet the special requirements of theaftermarket. The photographs of the parts shall be produced by means of digitalcameras in a readily reproducible quality and set into the system. These drawings willthen be released after providing them with a released drawing frame and the necessaryadditional information.

    6.23 Y-parts

In the past, drawings of parts and equipment for the German Army were identified with a10 mm high Y in the title block. These parts were subject to special regulations of theBundesamt fr Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung. This identification will no longer be usedfor new designs.

    7 DATA EXCHANGE

    7.1 Data exchange with suppliers

The data exchange with suppliers is described in ATE N 101 75.01. If the proceduredescribed in that standard shall be used, enter ATE N 101 75.01 in the master datasheet as reference.

    7.2 Data exchange with customers[03]

Different rules defined in separate agreements apply to data exchange with customers.

There are a series of customer-specific data exchange guidelines which selectivelyexplain the special requirements for each customer and the relevant procedures.

These data exchange guidelines have the number format ATE N 101 78.XX. The XXrepresents the respective customer number.

Example: The data exchange guideline for Daimler AG is ATE N 101 78.04

    8 DESIGN PARTS LISTS

    8.1 General[03]

The original parts list is the parts list stored in the PLM system. It represents the startingpoint for further system uses.

Each item code for which a parts list is required must have a separate parts list.Double numbers require a separate parts list for each number.

The parts list form is usually prepared in 2 languages, depending on the developmentlocation.

Entries in a design parts list must cover all assemblies, parts and auxiliary materialswhich are necessary for function, transport and storage and included in the scope ofsupply.Packing and type of delivery shall be ignored.

8.1.1 Musts in all parts lists

For reasons inherent in the system, an entry must be made in the following columns foreach listed part:- Item number, field 1*- Quantity, fields 2*- Unit of quantity, field 3*- Item code, field 4*- Designation, field 5*.

If one of these fields is filled out, then all other fields must be filled out as well.

8.1.2 Entries in the notes column[03]

The following entries can be made in the column headed NOTES (field 6*):

    Entry Meaning

PL Item code has or is a parts list

PLC Item code represents a combined drawing and parts list

    STORAGE/SHIPMENTONLY

    For storage and shipment only

OPTIONAL If several parts can be used interchangeably

    Other texts if required

8.1.3 Parts lists without related drawings

In the case of assemblies or units for which only a parts list exists and no drawing, thetext in field 14* of the parts lis must read: O.Z./N.D. (ohne Zeichnung /no drawing). Thisentry is made automatically by the system.

8.2 Parts list entries for unmachined parts

If a drawing of the unmachined part exists for a finished part, then a parts list must beprepared for the finished part. In that case, the parts list must contain the part number ofthe unmachined part.

8.3 Parts list entries for composite parts

Composite parts are parts which are permanently connected to each other as a result oftheir processing or production method.

Example: rubber part with integrated metal part

In order to permit the material to be allocated, the rubber part without the metal partmust be given a separate item code (part number) although it is only produced togetherwith the metal part.In this case, N.D. (no drawing) will appear automatically in the column headedO.Z./N.D. (field 20*) of the parts list.

    Example:

8.4 Parts list entries for optional parts (alternative parts list items)[03]

Optional parts or parts which are produced at different locations with different machinesmay be entered in a parts list under the following conditions:

The item number of the optional part is the same and appears several times on the partslist. The unit of quantity must be specified. The quantity shall be entered into the system such that in the parts list the actual

quantity appears as 1, (for example in the case of pieces) and all optional parts are

    identified as 0.

8.5 Parts list entries for standard parts and catalog parts[03]

All standard parts and catalog parts of mechanical components shall be given an itemcode and entered in the parts list.

All standard parts and catalog parts of electronic components shall be given an itemcode from the E-CAD system and are transferred to the parts list.

8.6 Parts list entries for development parts[03]

Looking on historical range of vision - status has been:

Parts which are not yet defined at the start of development work for a product mayinitially be entered in a parts list as standard dummies. The standard dummy must laterbe replaced by a real part. The standard dummy will have the item code 84.4711-0815.0 and will be automaticallydesignated as

    F04 O. Z. WIRD NOCH FESTGELEGT / F04 N.D. T.B.D.

with the text appearing in the parts list with 40 characters. This designation may not beoverwritten. The designation of the real part may additionally be entered, in advance, inthe column for notes. The item code may not be replaced by other entries, such as ND (no drawing).

This proceeding becomes less interesting because in current operational procedure ofCatia V5 it is necessary to create at first a 3D-modell. Out of it the designer has to bleedoff the drawing. Cause of this the processing with placeholder parts will become lessimportant.

Important: For compliance with the end-of-life vehicle regulation, a complete materialanalysis must be available as of release level F07. Consequently, entering

the standard dummy in parts lists is not permissible once an F07-release

    has been issued.

    11 ENVIRONMENTALLY COMPATIBLE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT[03]

The aims for environmentally compatible product development described in ATE N 550 00.01 must be observed during design and development.

Development checklists and tools for achieving these aims can be found in the Intranetunder Environmental management in product development.

For collaboration with suppliers, ATE N 550 00.02 Environmentally Compatible ProductDevelopment - Suppliers applies.

On documentation/drawings for parts developed by a supplier, there must be a referenceto environmentally compatible development.

For this reason, all parts/products whose documentation is provided to suppliers mustcontain a reference to ATE N 550 00.01 Sheet 200 / ATE N 550 00.02 Sheet 250Environmentally Compatible Product Development in the DIS (link in the DIS). The ATE N is then listed in References in the master data list for the respectivesupplier.

This reference is particularly important for suppliers who develop complicated purchasedparts/black box assemblies e.g. electric motors etc.
