Text 1: Flight to the cities

Within countries, many of the largest migrations have been from country to town. Over the next 30 years, demographers expect that for the first time most of the world’s inhabitants will live in urban areas. People are “pushed” from the countryside by the mechanisation of farming and environmental decline, and are “pulled” to cities by jobs in new industries and government investment in services concentrated in cities. Megacities, cities with more than 10 million people, have come to dominate life in many developing countries. Mexico City, São Paulo, Shanghai and Bombay each have around 16 million people – more than twice the population of London. Tokyo, the most built-up region in the world, has 27 million people. (...) Text 2: Hackers crack Purdue's computer system

Friday, October 22, 2004 Posted: 4:29 PM EDT (2029 GMT) WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (AP) -- Someone gained unauthorized access to Purdue University's computer network, prompting school officials to urge all students, staff and faculty to change their passwords. Purdue officials said that after the initial breach was detected, an investigation found that computers in several locations on the 38,000-student campus here had been accessed. "The full extent of the problem is still being analyzed, but we think it is important to exercise caution, and the best action to take is for all users to change their passwords at this time," said Scott Ksander of Purdue's information technology office. The police department was notified of the hacking Wednesday. The school has not been able to determine whether the intruder obtained personal information. Ksander advised users to watch for signs that others might have obtained their personal information. www.cnn.com
