He said several teachers encouraged an “entre- preneurial spirit” and he praised the Upward Bound program that helps students explore career opportunities. Blessing Baskets raising funds for Children Summer Food program El Reno Blessing Baskets will be raising funds over the next two weeks to help support the Families with Children Summer Food program. The summer food program was started in 2012 as a way to help families with school-age children during the summer months when school is not in session. Last year, more than 2,000 people were provided food through this community effort. Donna Dyer, Blessing Baskets coordinator, said the community has been very supportive of the program. “We work through a partner- ship with The Lord’s Harvest for purchasing and distribut- ing this food,” she said. A grant from the Mary K. Ashbrook Foundation, along with support from the business community and individuals have helped support the effort. Last week, Gemini Industries donated funds to help support the summer program.
